Why do they even bother with this place?
It is better off Closed than open... at least they won't lose money.
With Orient, Pink, ThonglorII on their doorstep, I think they need to re-think their strategy:
- Go back to Baron Days
- Or Hire good lokking providers
or stay closed.

I think you are right.
They have been under extreme pressure for years from the MIB mainly because of its illustrious reputation of some years ago, where everything that was done there and Saen's and her friends' abilities were strewn across the web.
The other thing is that it enjoys a front high street position so very near to the Emporium. Too much in the face of the rich shopping public and the affluent tourists.
The pressure has been relentless but they just haven't been ready to call it quits, believing that the presure would lessen with the modifications and the change to the name and the frontage. But no.
Maybe the time is approaching rapidly, especially since most of the ground floor is now given over to the coffee shop and the beauty/hair salon for them to call it a day.
Just a matter of time before the back-passage business packs up, I should think. A sad way to go.

They could try to Find another Location.... and then re-offer the Baron Standards.

If they want Lotus to be successful, then they have to come up with a new Concept. Maybe I could help out :

Some of those ideas are just exquisite.
But I'm sure that, although now they are surrounded by competition, they still have the thought that they were there in a prime site well before the others.
It's not only their reputation but their prominance nextto the Emporium right on Sukhumvit...and someone high up in brown underpants has a mind to squeeze the **** out of them so that either they conform or close.
However, I wouldn't mind hearing about your ideas being implemented by the Lotus/Baron Barber management in another location.

Went by there yesterday and ran into the mamasan who told me July 1st. Had a wonderful regular there for a long time and wanted to reconnect. But this is Thailand=Thai time.

Sadly, I think you are right.
An infamous door in Bangkok shuts.
And as you know, not many places are unique,
Baron Barber wasn't.
And part of the enjoyable quest is stumbling on new places that provide equally if not more pleasureable memories to cherish, even though you may not possess the same prescriptive rose-tinted spectacles as I sometimes have been suspected of wearing.
But for one place pulling down the shutters on 3-hole experience, many more doors have opened in the intervening period between when the MIB first closed the lucrative operation down and now.
