Sometimes you really do have to pay more attention to this board - a fact I found particularly true last week while visiting BKK for the umpteenth time.
Barons has always been on my 'to do' list and I set off for the famed establishment with a spring in my step, a song in my heart and a lump in my pants. Unfortunately, I had not checked the Oil Massage section of BTF and didn't know that things had gone the shape of the pear. Ah well - my report anyway.
After a head-scratching ten minutes trying to work out if Barons was near the door marked Lotus, I ambled in and was immediately asked if I wanted an oil massage. But of course, I replied. Bring it on.
Although expecting a line-up, I was disappointed to be intro-ed to my 'masseusse' without any choice on my part. This was the first warning bell but, baht600 duly paid for the 90 minutes, I headed upstairs behing the not-entirely unattractive lady known as Pang. Around 5ft and cute as a button - no stunner but I guessed the goal posts had been moved and decided to go with the flow.
In the room, it was time to undress and shower. Expecting the full naked works, I was again cheesed off when she got in the shower with me wearing shorts and a vest (WTF?) and danced around avoiding the water spray but making sure Old Thomas and his rucksack were well scrubbed and standing to attention.
The oil massage - again conducted fully clothed by herself - was fine althought nothing to write home about. I pushed the barrier by running my hands over her as she massaged my balls giggling at the reaction it was having. 'No probem' she said. Hmmm...
By the end of around 45 minutes, she rubbed my tackle and asked if I wanted 'special massage'. "Are the Kennedys gun-shy?" I asked and while that seemed to pass her by, she got the gist, pressed her finger to her lips in a conspiratorially manner, covered herself up and disappeared for a few seconds to get a condom.
Back in the room again, she stripped off and provided a fair to middling CBJ followed by FS which, to be honest, was going through the emotions IMHO. She claimed to have had the big O within the first couple of minutes and asked if I had too... as if! Kind of made me want to get it over and done with so there was no need to think of Russian shot putters or recite the 11x table in this instance. Shame.
After the deed was done, a small token massage of hands and arms followed before time was up. Total cost of this adventure - baht 600 (room), baht1,500 (girl - and agreed before deed) and baht 60 for beer.
I've had far better bang for the buck and will put this one down to experience and kick myself for not checking that Barons was no more on BTF.
And as if that wasn't bad enough, the night (last Friday) was even worse with NEP bars as dead as can be thanks to the Boys In Brown who had set up their table at the bottom of the stairs and had a line of people ready to show papers etc. TIT.

It really isn't a matter of Barons. Or NEP or Thailand as a whole. It's a matter of Western imperialism, postmodernism and horribly inescapable wider cultural transformations. I absolutely cannot underline this enough.
My experiences in 1994-5 were nothing like you can find today, very sad to say. I mostly just stick to the pick-up bars now- anything else is rapidly becoming a right waste of time. Get your girl, show her a damn good night at at restaurant, bar, show, pool hall, make her come in bed a couple of times, get her breakfast, maybe go shopping, and see her again. Go out with the right attitude and sort out your ego; that's it.

Nay Meat... although the former owner is still "involved" somewhere in the background, and Lee's older sister (the fat grumpy one) is now the mamasan the MO has been altered. There are about 10 providers on hand these days, and none are the sort that would turn any heads. The only exception is Oil, who still shows up occasionally. Things have thawed slightly, because the former "Baron standard" service can once again be had on the premises but not all the girls will provide it - unless the customer is a regular.
In other words things are much more discreet, and likely to remain that way indefinitely.

after some amount of time returning back to BKK. Checked out former Barons - now Lotus.
Nothing much to talk about, a disappointment up by 10. Then, after 1 1/2 hours wasted time and money headed to Angels 26.
Ton's of pretty girlies in this photo album. Picked up one available superstar... cannot remember the name. Up to the room she turns out to be very shy. Shower alone, no un-dressing, lot's of un-neccesary bla bla bla and a scrappy massage.
BJ only covered and non sensual at all. I wasn't up for FS due to over frustration.
Bottomline, I'm kind of shocked how fast things can change from superior to rubbish - particular for BKK.

not impressed.
i paid for an oily massage and was given this. but it was soft and not normal. the girl spent little time doing what she needed and more time talking to someone else in another room. the rooms were tiny and not too well kept. the shower was communal and I had to wait for another guy to finish before I could shower.
back downstairs, the rude mama cashier didn't even bother to look up when I left. there were approximately 7 ladies to choose from, and all looked average to good. but the facility is a real turnoff.

Diego- sorry to hear of your frustration. Did you opt for TTM, or oily? The rooms you describe sound like the rooms Barrons used to use for TTM [2nd floor?]. I've only taken TTM at Barrons twice, and it's been some time since the last, but whenever I've had oily there I've always gotten a room with shower.
Can't even imagine them offering their oily's any other way....
