Please forgive me for changing the subject from 'Appropriate Tips' to what historical prices are and used to be:
Fifty-one years ago when I first came to Asia courtesy of the USMC the prices were as follows:
Heineken Beer: Fifteen cents
Short time: $ 2.00
Long Time: $5.00
Monthly long time included: Rent, Hootch (house or what ever) girl, laundry, the whole-nine- yards was $30.
We were paid in US dollars and the exchange rate was 360 Yen / Dollar.

......may I say that if you have ever used a petroleum product in your life, it is your 'greed' too, let alone the world's greed.
As for dragging in anti-Americanism into this forum, although I am not American, I would be obliged if you would drag it out with you as you leave.
It is your weight around your neck and whatever nationality is being got at in a humourless and dead way, negates the celebration of life that a lot of members here are generously trying to convey to you.
America, finding itself to be the sole Superpower, is making all the mistakes in thought, word and deed that so many empires have made in the past, although,as an aside, the disaster in the Gulf was not directly their doing.
Hopefully, in time, America will learn before it is too late.
You, on the other hand, in your costings, don't even mention a tip, let alone a fair remuneration. Let us hope that it isn't too late for you.

May I ask why if the United States is so stupid you had 0.5 (what ever that means) invested in their market? As you know; Bulls make money, Bears make money, and Pigs get slaughtered...
Oh and BTW I am sorry for your loss; and I am not defending the decisions the U.S. makes; for after all; I and my children are paying for it. ( A big thanks to China for lending the money)
