Went to both locations last week (first visit for a year), I think the places have changed for the worst.
It seems that there is even less pretense at a massage than before. Now little more than a good wash and a happy ending. Both times I went, the massage was cursory and lasted no more than 2min.
If this is all you want, then fine, but maybe they should take the word "massage" out of their name? (unless of course you can say that this is what a "fashion massage" is...)

Akane certainly is different.
I've mainly been to the Soi 33 establishment and find the change of pace refreshing from time to time, maybe once a week, from the usual routine of an ordinary massage place that offers FS.
As far as I know Akane doesn't offer FS on the premises. (You'd have to arrange to see the girl after hours, if she is open to such a suggestion. They love dancing, by the way.)
Their ethos and shop culture are purely grown to appeal to men from a Japanese society who require a service of subservience........more akin to a house maid or servant whose duty is to sexually relieve the master.
There is much kneeling in front of the customer, offering a refreshing towel, a drink and asking which service you require. All the girls available at that particular moment line up for you to choose from and having chosen, again kneeling, she will change your shoes to one of house slippers and lead you up to one of the rooms.
The rest of the provision has been described here by committed fans of this establishment and also the few who unluckily made a wrong choice of girl.
There is the tendency to rush the moment of choosing, so as to get out of the situation in which 15 or more girls are looking at you and you at them. Take your time and if need be, talk to some. They are there for your pleasure and delight. They are the service providers and want you to make the right choice. I went there four or five times and each time had a wonderful experience, before I finally settled on my regular provider.
And besides the fact that it is a good deal, the girls are engaging in conversation, fun to be with and aim to please. Very friendly. Certainly puts me in a good mood, and ready to indulge in a few Tigers for a pleasant evening afterwards at the Office bar up the Soi.

Agree with your comments in general, but I am no novice at this. I have been to Akane (several times, both locations) because, like you, I enjoy the change of pace (and yes, it does make that beer in the Office afterwards taste better!)
However, I stick by my opinion that their services have changed for the worst. The original concept was nice but it seems to be getting lost. For example, I chose the option where the girl is supposed to don lingeree. In all three cases, there was no sign of lingeree, just instant nakedness. Whereas I appreciate that eventually, I used to like the old "Akane foreplay".
Oh well.......plenty of other places to try. Just my opinion of course, if you like the current format, more power to you

I actually thought my Akane 33 experience was the best value of all the places I was at in Bangkok. (however,there were greater bargains in places like Ko Samui)
Who knows of girls at Akane who will french kiss?
