Sorry to ask this & I've been searching the threads until I'm cross-eyed.... but it's been a while since I was in BKK so what's the appropriate "tip" for FS?

I wouldn't call that a tip, it's the fee. And the normal industry rate is 1,500 B. In some places the girls may want more (I've only come across two places so far), and if you are lucky, it could be less, but I have not had any for the last 8-9 years. Now, if you really like her service then, you can add a tip on top of that.

Appreciate the replies guys. I should have been more specific: typical "fee" for FS during 2hr oil massage. It's been more than a few years since I've been to BKK. Sounds like things haven't changed much....

You can get HJs and sometimes, BJs for 500 B. FS is possible at 1,000 B if you pay and run away. Well, then again, I have heard of stories where customers have left without even paying, thinking that it was part of the package.

While the 1,500 standard fee for FS at an oily (on top of whatever the house charges you for the "massage" - typically 400-800, depending on the time) has not been adjusted for inflation in the near decade that I have been coming to LOS, the dollar is unfortunately worth a lot less. I remember that it was around 42 baht during my first trip here.
As for tipping above and beyond the standard fee, I will tip between 100 and 300 if the girl was especially accommodating (anal) or otherwise enthusiastic. But I have no problem paying just the fee for standard service.
BK, one reason I think Mango doesn't charge you the 600-800 for the massage until you come back downstairs again is so that if you "forget" to pay the girl in the room they will just add it onto the total.
But I thought the standard fee for HJ/BJ was 500/1000.

This is an interesting question and one that elicits lots of comments both for and against tipping.
It really boils down to each individual as to what they want to pay.
Some will say that these prostitutes are individual contractors; they quote a fee based on what the market conditions are and what they feel their time is worth. As BK pointed out there are certain acceptable fees that are pretty much accepted as the norm anywhere you go in Bangkok.
Some will argue that in London, Tokyo and NYC the fees are much higher and so it is better to give the independent contractor prostitute in Bangkok more than she wants for her services.
However some will say it is a sign of low self esteem on the part of the customer; who wrongfully thinks he will get better service by paying more than others pay for the very same; if not better service the same girl offers to those who do not pay more than the rate quoted.
I recently went to the dentist for a prophylaxis (teeth cleaning). Some Dentist's in Bangkok charge 500 thb, others charge as much as 1500 thb; but they all charge what they need to make a profit.
All of the Dentists in Bangkok have modern clean facilities; as well as trained Dental assistants, and Office Managers, all are located in well equipped offices within Malls or stand alone buildings which they lease to provide their Professional services. The Dentist is a graduate in the science of Medical Dentistry and has a degree of higher learning from an approved university.
Unless you are a real scruff mouth, a normal cleaning takes about 30 - 45 minutes. I paid 800 thb and I did not tip anyone; total time was 45 minutes.
Now how many of you folks have ever 'Tipped' your Dentist above and beyond what he or she; as an independent contractor has quoted you as their fee for service?
The same analogy goes for contractors you hire to fix your broken down stuff in your home...
need a new A/C? You shop around for the best price and quality as well as the service...
What about those new windows or doors?
When it is all said and done the the 'Feel Good' feeling of finally finding a decent looking woman who will make you 'feel good' in spite of yourself is what drives this theory of paying more than every one else for the same service.
