Here's a new concept... massage (straight by the looks of things) and an Italian cafe sharing the same premises. Located in an attractively remodeled villa near the new Fuji supermarket on Suk 49, L'Osmose (osmosis in French) appears to be targeting some obscure market known only to the owner (the same energetic fellow who owns 7eme Ciel which recently moved to Washington Square).
The place is relatively small, with a good deal of space dedicated to lounge chairs for foot massage. A dozen cubicles with mattresses on the floor are designed to accomodate TTM customers, with communal shower. Two rooms are more private (though the walls don't quite reach the ceiling) and have elevated beds for OM with showers en suite. Nice infrastructure, but pricing is high... TTM is 340/460/580 and OM is 600/800/1000.
The providers looked to be no-nonsense workhorses of the sort that populate the shophouse massage operations on every Sukhumvit side soi... probably capable of delivering a solid massage, but nothing more exotic than hand relief (and I suspect even that could not be taken for granted).
Adjoining the "spa" area is an atrium style Italian cafe, featuring the predictable pastas (b250-350), pizza (b300) and a couple of mains like pork chop and sea bass... all very inexpensive. I sampled a plate of carbonara which was edible but entirely average. The glass-walled ambience resembles a fish bowl, and it is difficult to imagine who would choose to dine in this awkward little space when alternatives like Bottega and Tartufo are within walking distance.
Very curious enterprise... it would be interesting to see the business plan, in the unlikely event that there is one. Hopefully the owner has deep pockets... this one does not seem destined to survive unless it is simply a hobby.
