Maybe you should go into the jewelry business? There is a local store where I live in the US that has radio advertisements, and the owner said he goes to Thailand 4 times a year to select the best quality gems. He claimed to be talking about sapphires, but we know better.

What is it you know about owning (and managing) an English school? This is Thailand, as you may recall. Unless you monitor your investment closely, you'll get screwed. (That's true everywhere, but apparently even more so here. You farang you.)

Hello Lionking,
I currently work for a language school teaching English and I can tell you that it is not a terribly lucrative business for the owner.
You have to bear in mind that the customers will be Thai which means they cannot afford much for the lessons. We charge 7,600 baht for a 20 hour course (which is more than a month's work for most Thais) and they very rarely sign up for more lessons.
So you need to be constantly looking for new students as well as paying your teachers, rent, bills, etc.
Good luck if you manage to pull it off.
