Oh boy !
That very thought telling them to go shove it and walking out - it gets very tempting when you work in an enviroment that aint right. Im sitting here in the UK and Im thinking back to the times that I spent over in the LOS and Im itching to go back - itching to go back for good as its getting to stressed over here !
Remebering the good times the times without a care in the world a far cry from deadlines and pressure - going for a beer and having a decent sized steak that didnt cost you the earth, I want to eat a piece of the f***ing beast not pay for its up bringing !
Anyways the LOS has so much to offer beer woment and some like steaks - man cant live of of pussy alone !

Here here on that, I bitched everyday about making 85,000 baht a month and wish to god I was back.
Deadlines and pressure were non exsistant there, but a future is as well unless of course you have a fat expat job.

And what if Thailand decides to crack down on illegal immigrants here? This is more likely with the FTA negotiations when there will likely be a large inflow of well-qualified farang entering legally.
In that case, especially if you are too old, you will have to go back to your home country without any savings or skills. Imagine living on the streets and eating dog food for your retirement years.

It all depends on how you handle it. I have a friend who lives in LOS but works as an Engineering Consultant. Of course there is little work in LOS but he works contracts in China or Oz for a few months and then returns home to LOS for the rest of the year...

Moving to Thailand does not necessarily mean you earn less.
Establish a business in the SEA rim and you will have the goodies thailand has to offer plus a good income.

If you have the right skills and the right attitude you will be able to make a decent standard of living in LOS or anywhere else for that matter.
If you spent all the time you do moaning about how you don't earn enough on doing something about it, you would earn enough.
Not every person has the entrepreneurial skills it takes, and if you don't, then your better off staying at home and saving up for your once a year visit.
I ran my web business for 2 months from LOS last year, it was easy and without problems, it has made me think about moving out there long term.
