Yes, I too, can vouch for the fact that Khu Pl* is back in the fold and has been for some time.
This has only been through the generosity of the mamasan..
Reading through the posts here, my impression of the mamasan doesn't match some expressed here.
She has always struck me as being a kind and considerate person who understands her girls and their problems.
She cares for them but will not tolerate ill-discipline, just like any other good manager.
So, in all, she is a good boss for the bar and for the girls, because she is strong and the girls respect her for it. They know where they stand.
If Khun T*k wanted to come back to the bar, and I hear that she does, all she would have to do would be to ask the mamasan. I don't know about all the complexities of 'saving face' in Thailand, and I would think that it does get in the way many times of negotiated resolutions being reached quickly, but I'm sure if Khun T*k was allowed back, not only would we all be happier but the bar would be far busier than it is now.
So Khun T*k, if you are reading this at any time, pick up the phone and call the mamasan. We all want you back in the Star of Light. It is not the same without you.

I agree with you Cunni.
The Star of Light is about the only bar in Patpong 2 or 1 for that matter where there is zero-tolerance for drugs.
The mamasan, Khun Lak, is very adamant about that just as Khun Vichai was before her. That has helped to make it a good bar for the girls to work in and for the cutomers to go ( or is it 'to come' ? ).
That's one of the reasons why Khun T*k hasn't yet settled in a place. She can't stand drug-taking and would feel uncomfortable in the presence of drug-takers.
I hear that she has yet to find a place that has a similar policy to the Star of Light.
I think if all the bars in Patpong had the sort of mamasan like Khun Lak, it would be a much better place, so long as the touts were gotten rid of and the street market was swept away with the garbage.

Sorry if this is off topic, but how can someone be a good manager and allow their best employee to leave?
Moreover, has to wait for the said employee to call back in order to talk about the matter?
Being in a senior management position, I understand one has to be strong, but it is a manager's duty to open dialogue. You can't wait for your employees to make the first step.
I, for one have stopped patronizing SOL. I was going there for Miss Tuk so now that she is gone, I will call her and get her to come to my place instead.

Sometimes a management decision is that hard. Sometimes you have to do something that is going to hurt you in the short-term, in order to achieve a greater future gain.
And when you write that this manager............" has to wait for the said employee to call back in order to talk about the matter ?..................."
.........no-one is waiting to talk or is having to wait for the other........................ but in writing that maybe reflects that your experience in management has been rooted in Western busines management systems ( I may be wrong ) and not so much in what Thais favour and or follow blindly out of a sense of tradition and culture, as it is more bound up with senses of independence and autonomy and saving and losing 'face'on both sides, all of which slows business down to a snail's pace in this country.
No-one was or is waiting for anyone to talk.
The talking has been done.
The action taken.
The issue over.
The end.
It may well be that all the girls miss Khun Tuk.
It may well be that none of them can risk their jobs in talking with her.
Give the mamasan time, and she might be prepared to listen to Khun T*k at some time in the future...if she cares to.
Give Khun T*k time and she might be prepared to listen to the Mamasan at some time in the near future.....if she cares to.
Give you some time to set up your appointments with Khun T*k, and none of us will get a chance.

If she is not there, which she isn't, I leave, disappointed.
On Saturdays, I do this both going to the libary and returning from it.
These kinds of external alien management pressures are intended to work by reverse osmosis. Try it sometime. It can be fun.

Yes, I have attended European Schools for Business Management and to be honest, I am glat I did because for the last 4 years dealing with thai Managers, I am not impressed. Leading/Managing by keeping your employees affraid to challenge you is certainly not healthy for any company (thus the need for Foreigners).
As for Going back to SOL, well, I have not been in this area for a whle but will be sure to do the same thing as you the next time I go to JC Massage.
I have never really met the Mamasan (maybe I have but did not know it was her) so I cannot judge her, I just think it is a shame that Miss Tuk has gone.
I am not totally unhappy about it, since I can now get the same take out service without having to pay the Barfine LOL.
I am sure SOL will recover from the Loss of K. Tuk, another superstar will emerge and throw life back in that litle shack. No provider is irreplaceable. Look at Miss Saeng (Former Barons) she is gone, but others have stepped up to her standards.

You are right Nic Frenchy on all counts.
And employment situations can be ruthless at times, being apparent in the extreme, more so, in this country.
I know that having spent years and years in management and management consultancy in the West, that when I came here, it took me a little while to realise that most of my experience and expertise just were not applicable here, nor wanted.
This realisation didn't stop me from bashing my head against the brick-wall for years in many different ways.
But in the end, shamefully, I have relinquished all ideas that my offered contribution could make any difference whatsoever.
Thus, I just keep knocking on the Star of Light door.
I hope there is a change of heart there, because if Khun T*k is allowed back, she will be happier and so will the girls and the bar in general.

I just wish all the owners, bosses and managers of bars and the like would run their places as drug-free as the mamasan does in the Star of Light.
I think she does a good job in that respect.
