long time reader here, 1st time posting...unfortunately, my first post has to be a negative one...I posted this story on another thread too, I just want to make people aware and pay attention... I was at Bar Bar in Patpong tonight and I went to take 2 girls upstairs and had to pay the cashier.. I took out 6 crisp fresh 1000 baht bills and handed them over, 5000 for the girls and 900 for the drink... I was going to tip the cashier the 100 change.. I took my eyes off of her after I gave her the money, and a few seconds later she said I accidentallly gave her a 20 instead of a 1000...i assured her that I only had 1000 baht bills, and that I am aware of the size difference between a 20 and a 1000... the 20 she offered me back was also old and crumpled, significantly more so than the crisp 1000 baht bills that I just got from the exchange..now i've heard of this scam before, but usually on drunks or 1st timers to LOS... I argued the point briefly, but I knew there was no way I was getting back my money, nor did I want to give any more of my baht to this establishment, so I regretfully took back the 5020 baht that she said I gave her, and paid the 900 for entry and drink, and left disgusted...needless to say, I actually was having a pretty good time before all of this, and I probably would've returned if the service was good..i tried to tell the doorman to see if he could resolve the problem, but all he could say was it's the cahier's problem..I told him that since he could not or would not attempt to find a solution, I will never enter the establishment again, and I would make everyone I know aware of how I was scammed by the cashier.
i guess my lesson here is to pay attention and to count the money out in front of them...

Actually in pattaya I got a similar situation but in reverse.
I go to a bar, take one drink and offer two ladydrinks, total is 350 baht, I pay with a 500 baht bill and see 250 baht coming back.
I explain them that there is a mistake and that they gave me too much money back but the answer is
"no mistake" followed by a mumbled "farang mao"
(it was early and it was my first beer of the day, so I was defenetely NOT drunk)
Nevermind, I left and they lost 100 baht because they were retarded racists not willing to see a farang correct their mistake.
The proper word in thai to describe them is something like
Bpo Nia Hön (retarded), but dont blame me if you use this word and get lynched by a angry mob of retards.

if its your first time there, sometimes its a good idea when you hand over big notes or big sums to show them and tell them the same time - this is 6,000 baht etc etc
so that way you are telling them what you gave them and also you are letting them know also you know what you gave them
sometimes new notes stick together, but yeh this is a common thing, also with taxis, give them 100 and he will drop it on the floor when u not look and pick up the 20 between his legs and say hey u only gave 20 etc
late night and drunken cab rides, always giev the money with the declaration, also hold it until he takes it or has the change ready, I always put the light on as well
some of them are really sneaky and fast, I had one somehow get the montblanc from my pocket while taking the money from my hand
i was shocked when I saw on his passenger seat he had the same montblanc as me
needless to say I gave him a slap, screamed at him, and then took his taxi i.d card from the dash
he then drove off in a hurry
what a w4nker
but we all need to be scammed a few times to learn how to avoid the next ones
i even had a double bluff scam once in madrid, someone tried to scam me selling fake currency, I sent him away, then 2 cops came up, asking me if he tried to sell me currency, they flashed badges and asked to see my wallet etc
they thumbed through my cash, said ok thanks, sorry to disturb you, and be careful (the irony)
then later I realised I was 500 euro lighter
and they were fake cops
now I always take a v v good look at i.ds first, sometimes even take a photo of it with my phone if needs be, or the officer themselves
anyway, I havent heard about barbar for a while, surprised its still open in this economy, not surprised the staff are scamming

Well, I once gave a taxi driver 4 notes thinking it was 80 baht when it was actually 4,000 B! It was dark and I was drunk, no one to blame but myself. Lesson learnt, these days I arrange all my money so that the lowest denomination is first one that grab out of my pocket.

A few years back I was drunk going back to my hotel with my tilak, and mistakenly gave the driver a bt1000 note instead of a bt100 note. As soon as he started to give me change for bt100, my tilak grabbed the bt1000 note, cussed him out, and gave him a bt20 note for the ride, still cussing him out.
He never said a word about the fare, and drove off. I was with her for a number of years after that incident.

In this connection, I would like to mention about an incident occurred in a Bar on Patpong road with a group of friends of mine who visited for the first time there. Same story, 4 of them, bill came as 12000 Bahts. They first refused to Pay, then the Bar owner called the bouncer who warned my friends to pay or, else, they will take all the belongings of them. Reluctantly they paid, and walked out, and they found a Police officer on the road,whom they described the incident and requested to interfere. They produced the Bill etc. Officer called some one on the phone and in a minute the owner, cashier, manager everyone came and returned the money (Including the beer money, they consumed ) with an apology and requested them to come to the bar without entry fee. The Police officer even requested them, if not in their bar, they can even arrange next door bar for the similar arrangement. My friends said thanks and no thanks. So, this sorts of incidents are happening even today there. Most of time those are not reported to the authorities.

I went in on Friday night, around 10pm.

I asked the young cutie slave if she could do deep throat, she didn't have a clue what I was saying.

So 900 Baht for a good drink, piss poor 4 minute show and a walk around the rooms, oh well.
