Apologies to all the other Joe Wood guys in Bangkok. I've met three so far in the past six years. This is not them. It's me.
To answer one of OakToad's questions :
Does the girl that gets you off get B500 and the other girls get lady drinks? [ Edit JUne 2006 : price is now 700 baht for an inhouse blow-job.]
If you get 'served' ( serviced ?) in the bar, the lady who provides it used to get 300 baht of the 500 baht you paid. The rest goes to the bar.

I haven't asked again recently but I would imagine it is still the same arrangement. So a good generous tip every visit is essential for a good service. And if it is just an ordinary one, I'd give a tip too. It wont break me to do that and for any lady to get less than 500 for a BJ would be an insult.
But then, in between the genuine customers, the regulars and the tourists, there are occasionally ( far too often ) the scum who stagger around Bangkok and pretend that they are going to pay for service and beer and who then intentionally walk out afterwards laughing with one another,without paying a single baht. These are the scum of the earth. I wish there was some way of preventing them from entering this land of heaven.
There was a thought I had when two of them re-appeared when I was there one night, but the word from the ladies went round the bar like lightning. Those of us who were there, turned and looked at the two turds who had just walked in and they turned and walked out rapidly...... Luckily, because I wouldn't want the new bar to get damaged in any way nor for any more police pressure to be laid on Mr.Vichai's shoulders. He is a good man.
The ladies who get the lady drinks get a few baht out of the price of the lady drink, maybe 30 or 40 baht if it is a cola.
If you bar-fine the lady, the bar gets the bar fine to cover the loss of her drawing-in-customers power during the time when she is away from the bar.
She gets the full amount of what you negotiate with her.
She gets no salary from the bar.
If you opt for the room near Foodland, the cost of the room, 200 baht goes to the bar. There is no bar-fine for using the room as it is intended for short-time only.....or less if you come quickly. The full amount of the separate price of the service does not go to the lady.
Again, a percentage of that goes to the bar. So again, whatever you negotiate, always give a generous tip. They deserve every baht that they earn and more.

There have been many lengthy and heated debates about tipping like that in SOL, Joe Wood.
In any event you are correct in that 200 baht goes to the bar each time someone ejaculates in SOL. So if you give her 500, she gets 300.
So how many bj's does an average SOL girl do in a day? That's a question many might avoid. But if it's just three times say, then with this formula she's made 900 for the day. That's 6300 in a week. That's about 27000 in a month, minus one or two days off. Very good money for any Thai girl. More probably than some English teachers in Bkk. Maybe they should supplement.
The reason the girls work at SOL is not only because they really enjoy giving men blowjobs and having them cum in their mouths because they absolutely worship cock and get so horny when it bangs their throat. Hard to believe, I suppose, but that's not the only reason. It's also because the money's pretty damn good.
The difference between bj bar work and say a regular Bargirl or Go Go is that even though those other positions get a small salary, bj bar work has a fairly constant high turnover of cash.
I won't deny that they work hard and most work very well. I don't want to argue either way about these tips, it's all in the thread already so why should anyone have to repeat all the pros and cons. In addition, because so many of the customers are BKK and LOS residents coming into BKK for business and a little relaxation, the monthly takehome pay is not seasonal. Most of the girls have a fairly constant flow of many and are not prey to high and low season, and rainy season.

Those of you who are easily bored, please skip to the next post.
My thanks to seajohn and wittleus for detecting a slight danger of resurrecting the arguments for and against tipping. But of course it is up to the customer. And the ladies at Star of Light are more discreet than most give them credit for. Yes, they talk about you and read these threads, but they have integrity and sensitivity. I think I am right in assuming that you are both writing from the stand-point of being a) a regular and b) a resident. That’s fine.
My previous post was more directed to the visitor from overseas, who is earning a lot more than either you or I. And from their stand-point, I would suggest that it would be completely justified, if not compelling to give ( what would be for them ) a little bit extra. This would not affect the normal running of things, as some have feared in the past. The ladies know which customers live here and who is only passing.
One only has to remember a matter of months ago when the charge for a bj in the bar for first-time visitors went up to 700 baht. It didn’t last for long and since SOL re-opened in September, there has been no mention of it, as far as I know. SOL has a reputation to up-hold. A very good one.
As for the valid point you both made about the ladies having a decent income according to Thai standards, I would agree. But I would also have to add that most support either a child or two, or finance their siblings through school and University or else support the whole family and possibly wider community back home. Faced with poverty, flood, drought, rising debt and the ill-health of relatives, acknowledging that for the vast majority of these ladies, their family with slight or no income, comes first, and to gain merit in the light of their beliefs, they will work like they do for the ones they love. They take this step for their families for many reasons, and the majority know that it will mean being shunned by their communities forever. They will never again be accepted back into the social circles that they were brought up in, their family homes and communities. And yes, co-incidentally, they do lead a reasonably comfortable life in their non-working time for the duration of their lives as working ladies, except for the times when they hassled by either the police, some local Thai shake-downer or a crazy from the Western world. But yes, they earn a decent wage. But they earn it and I for one, would not begrudge them that nor more.
Do you know how long the Star of Light charge for a bj has been 500 Baht ? How many increases in pay have you had in that time ? If you have, why not the ladies ?
The working life of one of these girls, in the face of all the health hazards that they ( and in turn, though not comparably so, you and I ) are daily exposed to, can, sometimes be shockingly short. Amongst the ladies at the Star of Light, there is a very small number of them who have been there for some time.. All still young, vigorous and delightful. But at the same time, there is a rapid turn-over of staff and the girls you met last year might have left ages ago.
Nobody goes to a bar with the idea of finding a Vogue model. But if you take the time to step in to SOL you’ll find girls with hearts of gold and if you show them care and respect and play fair, they’ll give you heaven.
As for their own attitude and enjoyment with what they do, they are just like any other girl. But she is a working girl and to working girls, customers are customers are customers.
How many times have we seen on these threads different assessments of different ladies. Just because one is hot for you, and your experiences with her are dynamic, it doesn’t mean that the next customer will find the same thing at all. Your little hottie, so fantastic in the sack, and appreciative of every move you make, might be a star-fish to Fred from Kansas and the lady who was unresponsive to you just happens to feel some electricity for Bill from Birmingham and gives him a glorious time.
And let’s not fool ourselves like the guys who write about their experienced in Bangkok where they’ve banged this lady here and that lady there. They haven’t banged anyone. They’ve been banged, good and proper and paid for it. But they wish to maintain the fantasy. I suppose that is one reason why some guys prefer freelancers and that is because it is a little nearer to the fantasy that they are the hunters. But the truth is that they have been hunted and have been truly hooked.
At the Star of Light if the lady likes you and you’ve given them the time to get to know you a bit and you show them consideration and share your sense of humour and she knows that you could possibly return, she’s far more likely to click with you than with some tourist or resident dashing in for a quick one and dashing out without a word.

But if they don’t like you ( and they wont show that to any customer) it’s just a job to them. And part of the job is to create an illusion. And they do that very, very well. So even if they didn’t like it at all with you, they’ll make sure that you leave thinking that you’ve been the best guy that they’ve ever had.
Guys visit SOL because of many different reasons. It is a Specialist Bar. Some guys need to be seen doing it and find it thrilling. A few others are into the public humiliation of a lady or ladies. And then, there are the guys who go there simply because there are no hang-ups, no pretensions and no guilt and the fact that nothing is new to the ladies there. Yes, maybe they all do this and they all do that, but that doesn’t mean that they’ll give the same to Dave from Denver or Larry from London just because they gave it to you.
A guy may want to treat the lady like a sexual animal or toy. That’s the fantasy they want. The Star of Light lady, while enacting that role if it is so wished, is still a lady, with a heart and a mind, a soul, a spirit, feelings and thoughts of her own. Just like the customer’s sister, mother, wife, lover and daughter. There is no difference. Treat her with that in mind and you’ll get to know why Star of Light is heaven.
But you can’t tell me that any lady at the Star of Light, when confronted with a sweaty, string-vested, pot-bellied tourist smelling of beer and vomit and who hasn’t showered or bathed since goodness knows when, is going to enjoy it. Give us a break.

The present restrictions placed by the local boys in brown is expected to last only for a few days more.
Hopefully then, everything back to the 7 p.m. waterline.
We shall see.
As to why any guy would want a bj there, this bar has been used by many guys who have only a short time to spare in the day or the evening, for reasons of work in the day, or reporting back to the wife or girl-firend or because they just don't want anything more than that.
The present pressure from the police has presented the only acceptable option at the moment, and that is to take the lady out of the bar to an hotel or to your apartment. See above post for possible additional but minimal costs.
Another reason why guys go there is because of the quality of the ladies. Unlike the freelancers in the beer-garden or the ladies in the go-go bars, they are not gold-diggerrs. They wont fleece you at every turn.
So if you want something honest, unpretentious and real, then go there. You will be nicely surprised if you can leave your conditioning in sexual politics at the door.
