Someone on the SOL thread wanted me to post more info on the Rose Bar. When I looked for the old thread--I was shocked to see it was missing. I guess it had been that long since anyone posted.
What about the Rose Bar? This bar is on the same side of Patpong as, down the way from, and the upstairs like the Kangaroo Bar. But, this bar is so damn seedy it makes the SOL seem upscale.
I would not recommend this bar for anyone who is not familiar with it. There used to be a great gal there named something like Catoon (Pronounced 'car' without the 'r' and 'tune'). I miss her. She was reasonably looking and had a fantastic natural rack. She got some sort of kidney disease last I heard and she was gone. She worked there about 4 years and had some of the best skills and nicest attitudes of anyone I ever met in that kind of establishment. She had a sixth sense about just how to touch your 'wee wee.' (This is a medical term for penis).
Back to the bar. It is unbelievably seedy. They have two back rooms that are awful. And they have one of the worst toilets on Patpong. And the women hit you up for drinks like no other BJ bar in town. This is partially due to the fact that so few men are willing to go up there--they ALL have to feed off the one or two people brave enough to show up each night.
Having said that, this bar had a particular reputation which brought me there many times. The reputation had nothing to due with skills and or talent. It had more to do with the things they sold there with the drinks.
Having said that, all visitors should have fair warning. But--on the other hand--if you leave the SOL and think, "Man, the SOL is a dive bar," then have a look in this place. It will totally change your opinion of the SOL forever--for the BETTER.

Been there a couple of times, around the summer of 2004 (Euro championships).
The first time I went I took the only reasonable looking girl into the back room, which is a horrible place. Ended up shagging her arse for Bt 800 (I know I am a classy sort of guy!!)
Second time I went in, I left after about 3 sips of my beer as the 'girls' were horrible.
Never been back since and probably wont. It is not seedy in my opinion, just dirty and disgusting.
Stick to SOL.

I stick to SOL, however there have been times in my life I've wanted to explore. As I mentioned elsewhere, I've been to Rose about 4 or 5 times in my life. I can remember them all. They all tally well with the above posts.
1. 2001. Attacked by 5 girls til I was unzipped. Most of them fairly acceptable in looks. Asked about the small stage, but no clear answer. I didn't like the hard sell--worse than a go go. Left tips and left.
2. 2002. Afternoon. 3 ugly grannies. One of them approached. I fled.
3. 2003. Evening. A good number of OK looking chicks. A gaggle of them were all over a couple chubby tourists. Two came on to me. Took off them tops. I took the cute one, without bad breath, into the big bed backroom. I was drunk and her skills were nil and she was lazy, so I left disappointed and frustrated.
4. 2003 (Why did I go back?). An Indian looking girl with nose stud, fairly good looking, took me into the filthy closet room. Sweaty. Cobwebs. Gave me covered bj. Ok for service.
5. 2006. Late night. A few OK girls. Took one in big Backroom. FS. She attempted bareback. Nice girl. 800baht.
Certainly not the ambience and service and standards of skills as SOL. However I'm not a regular. Who knows??? Yes, they seem desperate for customers.
Maybe I'll be back next year or so. Any other news?

Clear back in 1990, there was a book written called 'Patpong sisters' by an American woman. the reason I mention it is because one of her friends was a BJ girl in this bar,and the rose bar itself was featured throughout the book. The actual time frame was 1988 I believe. This palce has been around a looooooong time and hasn't changed a lick. I'll agree with most previous posters. Once had OK chicks but it has been quite a few years back.

As the person who started this post--I can only whole heartedly agree with all the posts here.
SOL gals totally outdo this place. But since someone requested information, I felt oblidged to provide something.
This bar is really only a place to go to when you want to see what dirty, old, and ragtag really look like. SOL is fun and seedy--like that awful diner you go to, because you are convinced that they make the best BBQ (or in our case, the best BBJ). The Rose bar is not, and has not been this type of bar for years.

Went to the Rose Bar one evening many years ago.
Stayed for half a sip of beer and left.
Never returned.
Went straight to the Star of Light in Patpong 2 and I have kept on going ( coming ) there ever since.
Quality, skill, dedication and care. The ladies at the Star of Light are unbeatable for standards and depth of experience.

Having recently had my condo's floor scrubbed clean, apparently I hadn't enough nastiness in my life and so on a wandering lark through Patpong 2 one Saturday afternoon a few weeks ago, I decided rather early in the decade that it was time to wander up and take another look at Rose. Can't believe it's still 2006.
Looking at history it would seem Rose in the afternoon is only for the blind or those capable of inhuman courage. The darkness. The loneliness. Abandoned little stage. Creepy abject tables. I had gone up and was inside.
This was not one of those star-streaking times. Sat down and ordered my Coca-cola. Only girl working (besides an old mamasan sweeping the steps) was a young chubby little thing. I had heard when I was a teenager from some guy whom we all thought had experience that "fat girls give good head". I thought that I was ready four years

Landed safely in Silom. All systems functioning. Bio-hazard suit firmly fastened and clasped, I strode into the Rose. Squashed cabbage leaves everywhere. But one choice chrysanthemum in full flower and oozing nectar.
Fair skinned in a golden tan sort of way. Long black hair down her back and fully breasted. Tight jeans and a tank top that nearly managed to contain everything.
Had a beer in one hand for me as I sat and used the other to investigate my crotch. The first few sips of beer told me that she was having trouble opening up the pin-striped bio-hazard suit and so, desparingly,she gave up.
