I do not know any examples in Bangkok, but after starting a flaming debate at phuket-info.com, I have to post this here just to confirm that I'm either way off or have some kind of point. Because on the Phuket forum I'm all alone against a brick wall.
Short story: MTB bar in Phuket has got a 24h high def live feed from the bar.
Allthough this is most likely OK by Thai law, it raises some ethical questions about privacy.
I like to be able to travel around the world without anyone watching my actions. Google could pick up on this and make a "Person tracker search".
And if it is OK in bars, where to draw the line?

a) I you are concerned about a 'people tracker', your worries about bars are misplaced - there's far more cameras tracking all of your everyday actions already.
b) it ought to be okay for any bar owner to install a webcam of any resolution in his bar - has very litle to do with ethics (the bar owner decides what happens in his bar, and how much of that responsibility he wants to abdicate to outside scrutiny.
c) it is equally okay for any patron to avoid such a bar, for issues of accountability. Not much use telling the wife you work late at the office, if she surprises with screen captures from MTB bar, now is there?
d) Hence, I would assume that a bar owner who does that would most likely cater to the single crowd and thus folks with better (presumably) disposable income. Either way, the bar owner takes risk with such an approach. it's up to them to gauge how much that risk is worth it.
Spoke to quite a few bar owners on my last few trips - most patrons do not want people to see what they are doing at the bar - Thai ethics considerations most of the time never even figured in there.

OK, I will post in with a general remark:
Basically, these days, you will have NO WAY of telling if your visit to any bar or 7-11 for that sake is broadcasted live through Internet and tracked through Google.
You may call me paranoid, but that's an easy task.
MY VERY POINT IS THIS: If we say OK to a couple of cams right now, we also say OK to two billion cameras in the years ahead.
The person who calls me paranoid now, would then at least look very, very stupid.

Haven't heard of any of this yet but wouldn't doubt it either. One reason it may not be happening would be bar owners worried about men in brown catching them allowing some shenanigans to happen (topless, showtime, etc.) and that could get them shut down.

I understand your point of view! Because I wanna now if I am broadcasted or taped.
In the country where I am from, I guess you 2 Erike, you shall be notified if CCTV is in use and that goes for Webcam as well. Offcourse the barowner must be allowed to put up and stream a webcam or several. But he should put up an easy to see sign telling that webcam/cctv is in use.
But my guess that a webcam in a bar is not so much to worry about as for the high quality cams behind the 1 way mirrors at several massage parlors. My guess: one day we will see Erike on the cover of a DVD Movie offered at Panthip.
But cctv/webcams is selling like hot bread, and bandwith is getting cheaper so I guess we will se more off this.

its just an extension of cctv surely
and if u have something to hide then dont go there
or maybe the bar should have a sign saying we have a live cctv feed webcam etc
but theres also webcams in many public places, squares parks etc so someone will always see you somewhere, best defense is dont lie, just say yeh I went in that bar for a beer but it was cr4p so I left etc
