Soccer a bunch of pretty boys running up and down a field of green crying anytime they stub their toes. Anytime they actually score a goal (which is few and far between the boredom) they have to prance around like a Gay on a catwalk taking of their shirt for the titallation of the male audience.
I wonder if this World Cup will end like the last one where they do not play to the end (No overtime the pretty boys might collapse) and just end up kicking the penalty shots until someone score. How exciting, sort of like dodge ball in high school.
The main reason soccer aka "football" was invented was to consume lots of beer as it is required to stay awake.

Good post.
I wonder how many of the players will trip and fall, writhe on the ground in horrible heart-wrenching pain and then get up and trot off the field after 4-5 minutes of wasted time.
There is an old saying that I grew up with..."no blood, no foul."
When soccer gets to the point of being honest about the way they play the game, then I might respect the game more. Until they do, I have little respect for the way the game is played.
Stueyb: If the US plays the way all the other countries seem to play, then I will turn off the telly on them as well. I would rather watch an exciting game of cribbage.

We all know the real reason why Yanks feign disinterest in the big global sports (football, rugby, cricket, Grand Prix etc etc), simply because they could never handle the humiliation of losing to nations they deem to be inferior to their own. That's the short and long of it as far as I'm concerned.

Many nations inferior to the US have beaten us in soccer. I have no problem with losing a sport to any nation as long as the sport is truly and honestly played.
I do not feel soccer is that sport.
The US lost the world championship of baseball recently. Can you give me a reference anywhere on the forum that threw sour grapes on the victors from a Yank? We lose golf tournaments on the PGA tour all the time to Aussies, Kiwis, Brits, etc. Any bad vibes from any of us on that?
The single most irritating thing about soccer to me, is the fake injuries, trying to draw penalties or yellow/red cards for the opponents. Perhaps we should send our players to Hollywood for acting lessons so we can successfully compete. Do away with that and the game might be worth watching, although nil-nil after three hours or so is less than exciting.
Just my feelings about the"beautiful?" game.
PS: You may call it "football" if you wish. I dinna care.
