anyone know about this hotel, is it girl friendly like before it got the new annex, or am I better off in the jw marriot for twice the price.

My advice is for you to email the hotel, just ask them to state what is their guest policy.

have stayed at the amari blvd 10 or so times
as recent as mid november '04
great location, across from fooodland, next to gullivers, next street thru ally is beer garden, 2 blocks to eden, 2 blocks to nana
book a double ( price the same)
go for the delux rooms, worth it
sometimes will id card girl, sometimes not
no joiner fee
just order xtra towels
have also stayed at marriot, like the back door to nana
but prefer amari

I have stayed three times in last 9 months and providing you book a DOUBLE room absolutely no problems.
As billwilson pointed out, location is perfect.
Once you are known to security, ID's are not usually looked at.
Housekeeping are happy to work around your situation.

I once booked double room a couple of years ago. The frint desk girl was pretty negative when I checked in allone. I was hasseled by a guard every evening in front of the lift who had a list of guests. I always got the girl in, though, but the screening felt intimidating.

am I glad you say that because the hotel otherwise is real good value for money, superb location, rooms OK and a good out-door Thai restaurant on the 6th floor next to the swimming pool if if you want a romantic setting. And as said, next to Gullivers and Eden and Beer Garden and, and, and.
If they have become girl friendly BTF's will swamp them.
Hence, maybe better keep it a secret pearl in the Garden of Eden (no pun intended)
As I said, my experience was in March 02, much may have changed since then, so no offence taken

If you act like a gentleman, dress appropriatley, tip the poor bastards ( bellboys, and OMG 50 baht for the waiter at breakfast.....my rate always has breakfast)
You will be treated well.
Several of the staff always greet me by name, even thought it may have been a few months!
FYI- the breakfast there is killer!

My attire in BKK is alsways casual smart. I even swung through the reception in a Tuxedo once, with FG in my arm, long evening dress and all. I can be a bit of a show-off.

Get the JW Marriott thorugh Priceline for about the same as the Boulevard.
