Another new boutique hotel. It's the redone Vega residence: The Key On the basis of the pics, location and price (3,000 baht/night for a 68 square-meter suite is very good value for money), I booked it for early December before promotional pricing ends. I have no idea whether it is guest friendly. Considering the location, it's likely to be, but I'm not sure. It's pointless to email as almost every BKK hotel will in the current climate answer in writing there is charge for overnight guests, even if in practice they never enforce it. I still have plenty of time to cancel if it is confirmed guest-unfriendly. So does anyone know for sure? Evil

This looks like a very nice find. 3000 bhat (from their own web - I assume this will go down when booking through the internet from one of the agents) for a 68 Sq M suite with kitchen etc. is very nice. Location could not be better, enough away from the busy Suk, just behind the Robinson store, and so close to the BTS and MRT. Am sure if you contact them you may even do better. There is no other info on what the place offers (e.g. pool, breaky etc.) but sure looks nice and new! Cheers! Ap.-

I just spent 9 nights at The Key and can attest that they ARE very guest-friendly. The elevator is on the left just as you walk in and the people behind the registration desk won't even bother to look up when you bring in your guests. In fact, the young ladies behind the desks are quite attractive themselves! The place is not without its faults - the WI-FI signals on the room floors were a little weak and somewhat flaky. I had to go downstairs to the lobby most of the time to access the Internet from there. Housekeeping of the rooms were a little inconsistent - sometimes they'll replenish the little bottles of shampoo, and sometimes they won't. The Master Key Suite that I stayed in was very spacious and the bedroom as well as the living room had surround-sound speakers set-up but I found that they were wired incorrectly and I ended up re-wiring them myself to get the full 5.1 surround effect. Minor complaints really. In the Master Key Suite, there are two separate air-conditioning units - one for the living room and one for the bedroom, both units are remote-controlled. Bathroom is small with a tub on one side. The floor tends to get wet when you're standing up to shower as the water splashes on the side of the tub and drips down on to the floor. Still, they ARE guest-friendly and the location is good.

The Key is about 25M from Swiss Grottino, pity about the price (originally closer 2K Baht when opening) but it looks very nice & has easy access to both the Sky Train & Subway plus more importantly Soi Cowboy!

For those not so severely potty trained, back to the subject. Based on what I can see on the website vs. what I know to be true about my regular haunts and how expensive they have become, I have just booked three nights at the Key starting on the 19th Oct. I will report on my experience. I am picky about lots of space so I booked a Deluxe. I am picky about clean and girl friendly and will let you know about that.

As I reported much earlier, the establishment is very guest-friendly. I looked at the Deluxe room and felt it was a little too small for me, considering that I was spending 9 nights there so I opted for the biggest room that they had, which is the Master Key Suite. It was comfortable and I certainly enjoyed my stay there.

MT, 40 sqm seemed ok to me. The Master is available but, for some stupid reason that has nothing to do with what my company allows me to expense, I feel like I should never have to spend $100 in BKK. Its only three nights, maybe I will learn a lesson. I know you said it is guest friendly, I am just hoping that I can confirm that it still is in three weeks! Thanks.

NOW HAS JOINER FEE!!!! When I checked in they required full payment in advance. I had booked a double. Right after I paid and the credit card was processed they informed me that if I brought a guest I would be charged 800 baht per girl per night. I told her to look at my passport and see that I come to Thailand 6-8 times per year and that I am looking for a new regular place to stay. If they enforced the joiner fee I would not come back. She would not budge. I told her I would post this on the internet, she would not budge. This is current, I am staying at the Key right now. Room is Deluxe and very large. Already showing a lot of wear. Trouble with Safe, no hot water frankly even if it was no joiner fee I would not stay here again. No fitness center, they want to know what time you want breakfast and what you want for each day when you check in. Internet works fine at least in my room. I got a good rate on the internet but frankly if I have to pay 800 baht I could have stayed at the Grand president for the same money in a Royal Suite and they are always guest friendly, have better services and a health club. Give it a pass.

An acquaintance of mine stayed here last week. They did notify him at time of booking of the 800 baht joiner fee, but he was never actually charged a joiner fee – and he booked a single.

I have heard from the hotel management that they will be enforcing joiners and that you must keep the same guest throughout your entire stay. Otherwise 800 Baht joiners are charged per night. Given its location, hard to believe I know.
