I stayed here a few years back and it is a nice hotel, right on the door of Patpong - but wasnt out in the field at the time. Dont remember seeing many BG's around it, and am considering it or Meridian President for this trip. I know Le Meridian is on the friendly list - wondering if the status has changed since it was sold.
There are a gang of us over and Suhkumvit is out for various reasons.

I was about to book a suite at LeMeridien President for $100 USDollars a night as a splurge for my girlfreind and I. Now I see that it is now a HOLIDAY INN? I think I'll go back to the Majestic.

With all friendly respect: yes, they are GF, but you have to book a double room and there will be no hassle! I have stayed there every time, in a double, for many years and as a hotel I just like it a lot and every time I think of trying out something else I still return to Montien! Sure there are other great places - but for me the location and the great restaurants plus very comfy rooms are just what I ask for.
If you do not book a double room you will have to pay an extra of approx 600 b. Compare that with a sleasy ST hotel!
Little extra tip: even if you are scared away from Oriental by their high prices: go there some evening and try their fantastic buffet, situated outside next to the river! Hmmmm - just outstanding!

If I book a double/twin at Montien Pattaya, either through travel agent or hotel direct, does this ensure I cannot be charged a joiner fee?

Late reply, but still for those who search the thread: I have always booked my rooms at Montien as a double and never had any trouble what so ever! Being double that is! Nice rooms and I have a happy smile on my face of remembering over 25 years of regular stays at Montien!

Stayed in Montien for 10 years whenever I came through.
For me hotel has a nice feel to it and was allways very friendly.Good Gym, abit small swimming pool area, great bar and always GF. We used to arrive in the early afternoon after business in Ayutthaya was done, for and eextended R&R before flying hoe. Always had hot lunch on the Mezzanine in the Italian restaurant. Greast food.
As Patpong became flooded with LB's though, the actual location lost I relevance for me. My japanese colleagues loved it for it's proximity to the Japanese hostess bars. Never saw them after 11H00. Each to his own.
