My work mate TCJ just returned from his second BKK excursion. He had reservations at the Ambassador Hotel for himself and his TGF. The reservation called for a room with king bed. Well no king bed available but he was told it would be taken care of the next day. He also told them he wanted to extend his stay for 10 days, again told it was ok. Well on the second day no king beds available. On the third morning they were told that they would have to check out due to overbooking. Sorta sucks to me.
Well the TGF called a friend at the JW Marriot, no discounts available due to heavy bookings. The friend told them to try PB Hotel (30 Suk Soi 3). They checked out two rooms there and took the second one which was very good. 800bt per night, double occupancy with breakfast. They never ate in the resturant, but the room service was very good and they have both Thai and American food. All was very good.
I've seen pictures of the room and it's very spacious, very nicely decorated and in very good condition. TCJ says it was very clean and didn't have any infestations nor offensive odors.

PB has more reknown as a short-time hotel. I wonder if they set aside one wing or certain floors for ST and others for longer stay guests. I can vouch for its cleanliness.
The food isn't too bad either.

Short time rooms ground floor
To the right side there is a proper reception area.
Upstairs rooms are proper hotel rooms, but you can enter any time, without passport details etc and stay until 12 midday the following. Sort of a LT ST hotel.
700B before midnight, 500B after midnight.
I'm not 100% sure that the price change time is midnight though, could be 2am.
Never been there myself..... no sir, though I can say the room service food is very good and very cheap.

Guys,
I told TCJ about both of your posting and he confirms that the first floor had alot of traffic coming and going but he didn't see that on the second floor.
It sounds like a pretty decent hotel to me.

The ground floor is indeed a classic ST with the car park in front of each room. However, there are 2 buildings as you may have noticed. When you take the stairs from the lobby, the second floor is used as LT hotel in this building (same as lobby) and used as ST in the 2nd building. Nice and spacious rooms indeed. Very nice rooms for ST on this floor and 300 bahts as usual. A bit more classy than the traditional ST rooms on ground floor.

Right, Jeff. Now it all comes back to me. There are, I think, actually two lobbies. The smaller is off a short semi-circular driveway (off what soi I can't recall) and the stairs there lead to the second floor ST rooms. The navigation to this side of the hotel always got me lost *hmm hmm alcohol hmm* so maybe somebody else will fill in the details.
There's one grumpy seen-it-all old guy at the small lobby desk most nights and there's also a security desk on the second floor at the top of the stairs that's manned by one or two younger guards or housemen as may be. The second floor desk can even sell you condoms if you've forgotten.
They are really quite nice rooms, I'd have to agree. Big, clean, plenty of clean towels.

Actually, the rooms upstairs are ST rooms too. I have used them on several occasions. It's 320 B for 3 hours, and 420 B, if you bring 2 girls.

Certainly less seedy than the ST rooms downstairs, of course for some seedy may be the attraction....

i can vouch for the upstairs being used for st as well, you just have to request it, otherwise they take you to the seedier part of town, downstairs. I can also vouch for yurune never being there, he got that info from me. Mr 5 times.

On the last day of my holiday with my G/F from the internet dating site, my flight back to UK wasn't until 3am. I had to book out of our own hotel by 11am, so left my luggage in the hotel foyer for picking up later. By 7pm that evening, we were desperate to make love again before I left. We asked at our hotel whether they had a room that we could use for a few hours lie down, shower, freshen up etc. They were fully booked.
I then thought of the possibility of using a ST hotel for a few hours and took a taxi to PB Hotel.
A room for 3 hours cost 340 baht. I was very pleasantly surprised at the appearance of the room. It was large, clean, well furnished and decorated. In fact, it was actually better than the hotel that we had to take on our return from Phuket, as there was not much choice at short notice and peak season.
It was on the first floor. There were staff there to monitor comings and goings and no doubt as soon as a room was vacated, the chambermaids moved in and cleaned it, ready for the next occupants.
We spent a very pleasurable three hours there, made love twice and spent the remainder of the time kissing and cuddling.
Of course, although most of the rooms are quite possibly used for ST Punter/BG liaisons, the hotel probably also makes a good profit for letting out rooms to couples like us in the same sort of circumstances. Looked at the other way round, I arrived in Bangkok at 5am, so was there on the first day at 6am in the city, with my room not available until 11am. A good idea to go to one of these places to shower, freshen up, sleep a couple of hours before hitting the action. Over a 24 hour period, they are possibly making more income from their room rental than other comparable hotels offering a normal residents service.
