this isnt a knock on th grottino in any way, I really enjoy my stays there.
I have been staying at the grottino since it opened, and quite like it. The staff are friendly and very helpful and flexible in every situation.
what I like best about it is the sofa in the room, and the huge multi-person shower.
But the price is beginning to get a bit high.
Citadines Soi 23, and Centre Point soi 16 have rooms that are bigger with sofas and kitchen facilities too (Centre point rooms have washer/dryer too) that come in at 500-600B cheaper via discount sites and include breakfast in the nightly tariff. They also have a much wider selection of cable TV stations (i like to put on a thai music video channel when I get my love of the night back to the loom).
the downside in comparison is that they are both big hotels, so there isnt that personal touch I have gotten used to at the grottino, and not being able to have 3 person shower sessions.

Ditto! I am having the same problem. So much value out there and so much more.

I was going to compare Centre Point to Citadines Soi 23. All I will say is Centre Point isa little more High Class and costs more. I was a Centre Point guy when the Baht was 40 plus to one but at the current rate I like/need deals.
We booked for a whole month at 30K (Total price 31 days) with a Maid 3 times a week and NO Breakfast. Breakfast is not much anyhow.
Room was 28 Sq. Meters. Small refrigerator, Microwave, Cooking Hob, Plates and so on. Room had a couple chairs and a sofa. Also TV/DVD. CNN, BBC, and 2 Movie Stations. Told they are getting a lot more soon.
Location is great. Short walk to Cowboy for you single guys. Tuk Tuk to MRT/Sky train for free. Looks GF friendly to me.
Hotel Restaurant badly over priced. However, many good and nicely priced places in the area.
Hotel Staff are great and as good as Centre Point. Nice joint. Bottom line ---good deal.

Direct from Hotel. All taxes in the 30K. Credit for 1400 in elect. Over that you pay @ 6 Baht per hour.

Check Out:
When we went to check out the Inventory had to be checked. Centre Point, a couple times, hit me for chipped glass I never touched. So I wait with baited breath.
Then “Sir, we owe you your full deposit back No damage. Your eclectic was with-in the 1500 Baht we allowed per your contract. It was our pleasure to have you”.
Next day a nice e mail from Man Management thanking me. So one month --30K with all taxes and service charges. Great deal @ Monthly Rate!
