Grand President is certainly a good place to stay. I stayed there once,about a year ago. The only draw back of Topaz rooms, are smaller and no views from the room.
And it is a fact the Taxi drivers do bother you everytime you go out of the hotel. If you are not too fussy of these small issues, it is certainly a good place.
I want to try majestic suite this time, with 2 of of my Philippino friends.

;) You will have no problem with Majestic if you are able to stay in a smallish room.
There is no problem with bringing back any number or the number of times you bring different back during a day. Staff always pleasent and speak nicely to you and your Gfs.
It is so easily located to NEP the only problem is Taxi drivers do not like stopping in front but will normally ask if they can stop in the filling station on the corner.

It is less hassle for Majestic Suites IMO to get taxi to Landmark. It saves crossing Soi 4 especially while toting a lot of luggage.
To satisfy my curiousity does anyone know what G.P. are charging nowadays for a Topaz Suite?

Hi,
I usually stay at the GP when in BKK. Just checked the internet offers for my upcoming visit in February. The cheapest I found is Bath 1568 per night for the Topaz Studio including service charge, VAT and ABF.
Sounds like a good deal.

They are usually cheaper if you book with them direct.
Go to their website http://www.grandpresident.com
Go to online reservations.
Fill in the dates
This opns up all the rates for the different rooms.
THEN clcik "view promotion withing your booking date".
This reveals a rate of 1,600 per day for the Topaz Studio in February.
THEN phone them coz they will usually beat this on the phone especaily if you have got a slightly better rate elsewhere as Indiscipline did.
Hope that helps.
By the way you get a MUCH bigger room (suite in fact) for these kind of prices at President Park (sister place) which is a MUCH better establishment if you can bear to be further away from NEP.

Here is a Hot Tip:
If you stay in the GP, Tower III, where all the Topaz rooms are, ask for a room ending in x60, as in 560, 660, 760. These are the end rooms, closest to Soi 11, and Sukhumvit. They all have large windows overlooking Soi 11 toward Sukhumvit, and the upper ones are quiet enough. I stayed in 660 for 2 months, and really enjoyed having a view, especially at night.
I no longer stay at the GP, due to the price increase, and the 10% service charge gouging, as well as the seemingly incompetent reservations staff. 2 years ago, before the manager, Jessy, left, I paid 27,000/mo. for that room, no service charge, and no credit card surcharge.
I have heard that things are even more run-down lately, but I found that they were constantly refurbishing several rooms at once. The trick was to get a recently refurbished room AFTER the paint and solvent had dried .
I still think the GP has the BEST location in Sukhumvit, and would stay there again if they somehow pulled their act together. It can be a really comfortable place to relax...
B30000 (+10%, + 4.5%) is really too much for all the hassle, IMHO.

I would agree 100% with haam sup. Location is terriffic but they have been tearing the ass out of it in last 2 years price wise.

I was there in December 2004. I would never stay in Tower 3 again. Wallpaper coming off walls; very worn headboard, and a spectaular view of about 10 feet to a bunch of office workers. Tower 3 sucks. But if you are an exhibitionist, you could do the nasty with the blinds providing a view to the office workers, and maybe get in trouble. Only use Tower 1 or 2.
