saucytim: have you actually booked and stayed there? What the official email or some info on a web says does not really mean it will be the case. I know from other threads you need to book a double, and this is a given. Also others had various comments, from no problem at all when booked double, to a need to book a suite to "avoid" the fee. But Montien has a very good location as does Landmark (my favorite where I usually stay). Thought to change the area this time. Other hotels there are small scale and I usually preffer large 4-5 stars hotels.
Anyone else who has actually stayed there and booked a double?

Landmark is a nice property. You may be disappointed to stay at The Montien, quite old now.

Thanks for your respone, but there are no good hotels GF around silom. If you know one please let me know. I know very well the hotels around Suk, and wanted to change. I wonder where is Jojje, he had no problems at all. I would rather get a first hand experience from someone who has booked double. If you look around the many threads on the Moniten, you may see different views re. GF. The hotel offers a great value IMO for its location and its luxury level, hence is my effort to find this info.

I have noticed both CP locations. The one near the bridge is way too far. I am looking for location here as well as for a good and large hotel. Otherwise, I can stay at Suk Landmark and take the skytrain. The Saladeng location is at the end of the soi, 20 min walk to Silom. Yes, can get a tuktuk but why? Price is higher too than Montien (3400 vs 2400 b). Location is the prime issue. I would be happy to pay 3400 for such a place if located where the Montien is. Years of staying at the Landmark made me spoiled to appreciate everything being within walking distance.
Jojje and others had a GF report before hence why I am asking. I am not novie to the area though. By the way, did visit other CP and was not so impressed. They all had an external A/C unit outside on the balcony, making a lot of noise at night. I like to make the noise myself and then sleep without it...

I must have stayed at the Montien BKK 20 times- it is in a great location- it has the best breakfast/dinner buffets in BKK- it has a nice pool- used to be they took the card of your bg and she got it back in the morning- no more- they have guards at elevators to both wings- I talked to manager and told him he was losing one of his best customers- that the hotel shouldnt get extra and that id rather tip the working girl than give u extra for no reason- he let me walk- I now stay at JW MARRIOTT ( like it better than Landmark) enough said--it is girl friendly if they get their cut uuuggg

I see Montien is up for a debate again. And that I am referred to. Ok - let me say that it USED to be great! I have stayed there more times than I can count for many many years. However a couple of years ago they changed attitude and obviously management - I am ashemed to say that the prick running the hotel now is a fellow countryman to me...... In my world and mind when I bring good money to an establishement I also expect to be treated with respect, good attitude and friendliness. Customer is king - and that is the case at many places around LOS - but not Montien! They are scaring away all their old faithful customers and as a businessman myself - I really wonder what they heck they are thinking about!
I had a shitexperience with them a few years back when they treated me really bad - and even padded the bill! Please note that I had done NOTHING wrong - but still they wanted to have an arguement about GF and bills. I tried to reason with them but no. I tried to point out that I always have stayed in a more expensive suite and brought good business to them - but no. I ended up telling them that after so many years they would not see me again if they did not back down. They did not and I realised that I would never set my foot there again and that it is these days a place to REALLY avoid! Why stay there when there are so many better hotels?! With no hassel and where you are really welcomed and treated as a customer?!
I have since stayed at almost all 4-5 star places near Sukhumvit and like it a LOT more! Have a place now where I always stay. Staff is great, they know me and even if now - since 2 years have a regular GF I always check in with - they treat me fantastic! Sometimes when GF not around even entered elevator with...hrmm.... some other little stunner ---- but from staff nothing more that big smiles and great attitude! Love it!
Final advice: do NOT support or stay at Montien neither in BKK or PTTY! Their management does not treat you right or respect you - and therefore do certainly not deserve your dollares! Vote with your feet and ALWAYS place your money in LOS where you get the most in return! You deserve that!
Have fun - in all other places!
