Hi Sircool,
Haven't been to Swissgrotino but used to stay at Plazzo a year or 2 ago. It was a well kept 3.5 star Hotel; rooms are ok, very clean.
It is next to all the Massage Parlours and has in house Karaoke if you’re that way inclined plus night club of sorts which is well stocked with part time TG's.

Thx for the info. I'll be checking into Palazzo tonight and see if it pleases me. Tomorrow, I'll drop by Grottino and then I'll decide where to stay for the next 6 nights.

Just go into any mid range hotel and ask. You can go to the 5* as well and do either:
1) Have a dip in the pool and catch some rays or
2) Have a drink at the pool bar
You cannot often do both as they will ask for your room number to sign the check.
If you have the balls, you can go in the 5*, sign for your towels if necessary, have a swim and order at the pool bar. Then just say you will pay cash as you have checked out.

I stayed there last weekend. Excellent service. Interior design is very cool. Under the bed platform lighting with dimmable halogen spots. It is quiet because the windows are double paned with solid wood slider doors that have rubber flap seals. Fine bed linens and confortable bed. I myself appreciate this European attention to design and detail so lacking here. Nice private entrance.
This clean look goes well with the TG's as well.
I still have to find out how he got rid of those Thai channels off of UBC.

Stayed here for 10 days and I liked the place very much. Only paid for 8 days (1200 Baht total) because of this forum. I wasn’t charged extra for the early arrival (5 AM) and the late departure (1 AM). Many times I stayed in my room till the afternoon and there was no hassle from the cleaning ladies. Every time I got back to the room it was spotless again.
The picture of the room on their web site is not a mock-up picture; this is how all the rooms look. One of the BGs I took to hotel complemented me on the room. She loved the soft couch in the corner with throw pillows .
Last year I stayed at Manhatten. Initially I liked the thought of having a swimming pool but in the end I only used it once. A big plus is of course Manhatten breakfast buffet but the rooms just do not compare with Grotino.
I had a nice talk with Daniel right before I left. Nice guy, not the owner just the manager as he puts it. I suggested a music channel on the TV and he said he would seriously look into it and maybe put it in instead of the history channel. Visa was not yet operational so I had to pay cash, no problemo.
So, next year it will be Grotino again unless the missus is coming along and then I’ll be staying at a BG unfriendly hotel for sure.
