I can confirm that Majestic Suites is a very good hotel. Rooms are a little bit small but well-decorated, modern and clean. Bathrooms are cosy. The safe-boxes in the rooms have a code number.
The atmosphere is nice, the staff very kind and it is very close from NEP in the interesting part of Sukhumvit.
I prefer it to Nana because it is quieter but you can go and hunt in the Nana lobby or disco very easily. Moreover, if you have to give your adress in BKK to professional partners or family, MS is a more discreet hotel. Nana is known all over the world (In Europe, by TV reports...)
About the BG, it is very important to be cautious but I have met numerous girls including streetwalkers and never one of them has tried to rob the baht notes I have forgotten on the table or the jewelry I have sometimes stupidely let in the bathroom. Anyway, the guest ID card policy is another guarantee. But, put your passport and credit cards in the box and you will be quiet.

I have stayed in Majestic several times. Girl friendly if you book a double room. They keep the girl's ID for your safety. Breakfast above average. Staff very friendly. Rooms are small - little space to walk around. Rooms at the back are very quiet (overlooking NEP). THe price is 1300-1500b. TV is OK - get some english channels. Has minibar that the girls can raid. Rooom has safe with an electronic key (at least the rooms in which I stayed). Some may have 4-digit codes. If you plan to spend a lot of time in the room, this is not good. But to use as a base, it is great. Close to all the important venues.

Speaking of small rooms, I once had an overnight layover at the Osaka Kansai Airport in Japan on my way to BKK. So I stayed at the hotel inside the airport. Even though it cost about $100 USD per night, I would recommend that you go on a diet before staying there.

There seems to be some confusion regarding the in-room safes at Majestic Suites. I stayed there in June and it seems the safes no longer have an electronic key that you have to carry around. You punch in a 4 digit number to lock and unlock the safe, just make sure your "date" does not see the number.

Note on taking girls ID's, MS is kind of hit and miss on this. They didn't take a couple of ID's from girls I brought back.
One night a girl left the room the get an article of clothing and was back up knocking on my door in 10 minutes. If you look as if you belong or if they have seen you with her before they are apt to let her slide. Don't know if this is a good or bad thing.
Trying to decide if I should book at the Majestic again this Seotember or try the Nana Hotel.

Regarding ID at Majestic Suites, you are right, sometimes they don't ask for it but to be fair if you are not sure about the girl it is up to you to make sure they take her ID. The staff try their best to use their discretion, suppose they insisted on ID and the girl was your girlfriend---she would feel insulted. Forget Nana hotel, rooms are tatty, Majestic Suites are far superior in my humble opinion.

still up in the air between Nana and MS
anyone have any experience with parking a vehicle at MS ??
I know I can park at Nana (underground), and the checkout time at Nana is 14:00 vs. MS's 13:00
that could be advantageous if my UniGal cums to visit on Sat. morning...
Nana is certainly more BG friendly the way it sounds.
I know that they never check/ask for ID etc. at Nana.
room rate isn't all that diff., less than 100 Baht more for MS. I walked right by the place last week, but didn't go into the building. There's some parking at Pacific Place tower, but you'd need a pass/card/permit.
Maybe that could be arranged by some some mates of mine working there...
any input appreciated, especially about parking.

Cannot help regards parking, however having stayed at MS about 20 times over the last three years I do know that you can get a late checkout upto 1500hrs without any extra charge. I just let them know when I email my reservation and again when I actually arrive. Always works without a problem.
