Why paying for overprices meals in hotels restaurants when there is a universe of good and reasonable priced venues???

Anyone that has stayed there let me know your feedback. Looks like a great hotel. The price range is about the same between the two. I am also considering Sheraton.
Will be booking early September for my end of month trip. Whats the weather like at that time, is it still in the monsoon season or is it over?
I understand there is plenty of places to go eat but it is also nice to have a good range at your hotel when you are lazy to go out.

Any updates or recent experiences at Plaza Athénée? Increasing rates at Sheraton and Westin driving me to consider other Starwood options.

i always stay at the plaza athenee, about 6 times two weeks a year and I have always been most happy. the french restaurant is great, the buffet is nice and the japanese has nice set lunches. great rooms on the club floor. you can bring girls in, but your average nana girl looks a bit out of space in there.

I enjoyed a stay at Plaza Athénée a few weeks back (thanks to Bro Buxeda for the hotel update). I requested limo service pick-up at the airport, a speedy ride in a new BMW 7-Series to the hotel (2400 THB). At check-in, I was notified of an upgrade to a Junior Suite being a SPG Gold Member. The hotel is 2-3 minute walk to the BTS platform, 7-9 minute walk to NEP. Hotel has elevator card key security restricting access to all room floors (not just executive level floors). Pool deck area was quite nice, much larger and open than the Sheraton Grande (The Sala). Breakfast buffet very good at the lobby restaurant (620THB). Nice hotel, recommended.
