If you are shown a shithole, ask for another room.

As the good Dr said none of the rooms are shit holes. I think there is a link between the rooms alloted and the agent through whom you book.
My room was changed during my last trip and I was given a room which had an even more comfortable lay out.
What do u say Dr Love? You have seen both the rooms and the beds comfy enough for yr afternoon nap....lol.

I stayed in this place in March 06, and the rooms were fine, it is G/F friendly and right in the middle of Cowboy and NEP location wise, and whilst I never made the breakfast, I was told it was half decent!!
Only thing that irked me was the tailors between the hotel and Suk Road.....no, I don't want a bl**dy suit!!!

I read on another forum that the Manhattan was no longer GF. Sounds strange, as that would eliminate about 90% of the hotel's customer base, but stranger things have happened.
Does anyone have any recent experience (within the last few weeks) to indicate whether there has been a sudden change of policy?

IMHO Manhattan is no longer good value at 2064 Baht for a Superior (standard) double on Asiarooms, compared with Swiss Park(soi 11 1) 1531 Baht for a standard double on Thai Hotel Discounts,or Darjelling (soi 18) at 1700 Baht for a standard double also on Thai Hotel Discounts.
All hotels include breakfast in the price, but Darjelling also offers free Wifi internet in the rooms.
I think Manhattan and Swiss Park are pretty comparable. Both have pools. I prefer the rooms and breakfast at Swiss Park, but there is not much difference. However, Manhattan's lobby is much better.
I have not stayed at Darjelling, but it is a newly built hotel and this Forum`s reviews are favourable.

Excellent deals now for the Amari Boulevard. Have seen it at 2499 on the internet. Also the city lodges they manage are fff... cheap. Saw it at 1299 on the net and 999 on the window (although it mentions from...) the good thing is that there is no joiner fee at the city lodge. Did bring busloads of hot girls home... the smile of the receptionist made me think she might have wanted some too, ha, ha
