I would ask you why you are defending the hotel, which I think is the duty of hotel itself?
None from the hotel has posted in this thread about the hotel's virtues or lack of it. Only our fellow BTF members are the flag bearers of this supposed to be very good joint.
I run a tight ship in my place and no thank you, you are not welcome.
My point is, this forum is a place where people new to Thailand in general and Bangkok in particular come for advice and clarifications. Shall we try to tell them what is the best rather than what is best (as per our view) ?
There was no need for any body to get excited if they are not involved in the scam.
Any how, these discussions (to my relief) bring out true colours of some venerable BTF members.

Swiss rotino is a good hotel for a good price. Recommended by me and many others (repeating guests) for a stay in Bangkok. And no, no string attached to this recomendation.
Me not being related to the hotel at all, I do not agree with you negative attitude towards SG.
Or might your hotel be located in Bangkok and do you envy their succes???

Never stayed at the SG myself. Had a look before I booked some friends and was happy with what I saw. My friends stayed at the SG for approx a week. They changed their reservation a few times without hassle. Overall they were extremely satisfied and happy to return in the future. This is more measuring succes for me. Returning customers and a high occupancy... I guess they will stay in buisiness.
BTW. I was used to work in the hotel industry myself and feel that my judgement is more worth than the judgement of a person who actually was never there...
Enjoy your stay at the Majestic. (Actually, also this hotel I like) and take an effort to see what SG is all about!
I absolutely agree with you Manuel and I will certainly do that. I will also see how this place is. I am very sure, being a newly opened place it should be good.
My views were expressed from the information on this thread, no more no less.
We go to a foreign land and after a long flight are going to face the hassle of not getting a (confirmed) room as soon as we reach there, amounts to some teething trouble of the hotel and we have to bear with it?
No doubt, our BTF members are very moderate individuals !!!
Every moment of your stay in a hotel from checking in to checking out (including your total stay) counts.
What I am once more trying to say is we as weary travellers do not require this hassle.

Good I hope some of you sorry asses will go somewhere else so I can get a room on short notice.
msg runs such a tight ship that he lets no one in this also saves on maid service. Why wouldn't you want a customer that goes the 9 yards to defend your establishment? Sometimes you just have to shoot the messenger for the hell of it.

May I recommend following hotels for an almost guaranteed 'best' experience.
- Oriental
- Peninsula
- Shangri-La
OK, this might be more expensive but the highest quality is what you pay for.
The above to confirm earlier statements from others. The Swiss grotino is offering a good product for the right price. Neither at the Majestic nor at the SG you can expect a perfect experience. The price is just not warranting this.
So what will it be??

My hotel is neither located in Bangkok nor Thailand.
I don't have absolutely anything against this hotel. I wanted to stay there and still might.
But I am now worried when I reach there I might land up in a sitution that I don't have a roof over my head?
What I was trying to suggest was they should improve.
I hope they do that and have even better occupancies and profits.
My ire was rather against some individuals, who are trying to project this place inspite of some of its short comings.
I know no place starts without any initial hiccups.
Let us hope they sort out all their bottlenecks !!!

Losing your room can happen at ANY Hotel. On my last trip to the President Solitaire I got there at 8pm at night and they had already given my room away! Even though over the past 3 months I had stayed there on 5 or 6 occasions. sh_t happens, what the members are trying to say is this is a good deal. No if's or buts!

I am very sure it happens with all hotels at one time or another, but not as regularly as it is happening in the case of this hotel, to the extent of members suggesting be sure to have your Internet confirmation in hand before reaching there. But in one case it was obvious that having Internet confirmation also did not help.
As you suggest it might be a good deal but it can be certainly a better deal if these issues are sorted out.

Marc has never objected to my suggestions. What is wrong in making suggestions for improvement? Did I suggest anything which was not practical or not feasiable? I always suggest some improvements where ever I go. And nobody has taken it wrongly except for onlookers like Your Highness!!!
I thought BTF is a democratic forum and not a forum which is hijacked by likes of you.
I suggest you people instead of taking out your ire on me go and give some suggestions to the guy managing the show to find ways out of this sorry mess.
