Nothing changed about the JW Marriott. The management still believes that an adult is entitled to entertain a sleeping partner in his room. Two keys are provided on check in if you book a double.
This is an excellent hotel which focuses on the business customer, not tour groups. But, the hotel is not keen on one bringing unregistered guests into the executive lounge or pool area.
As far as Arab guests, yes there are quite a few Arab families during the summer months when they arrive to escape the heat in the Gulf. These are friendly folk who are quite happy to share a lift with bar ladies. In fact, the guys seem to get a kick out of it.

Girl Friendly or Tolerant at the Amari Boulevard. Does anybody have any resent data on this? I am booked to stay there next week, and this is what work is paying for. Or I may just walk away and stay at a friendly place on my own.
Any assistance you can provide would be appreciated

I recently stayed two nights at Amari Boulevard, and figured I'd give a recent update on their girl-friendliness, and marketing tactics. If you are a newbie, you should be aware that there is another Amari hotel in Bangkok called Amari Watergate. Same company, but two entirely different locations across Bangkok.
I booked a room on their own website for about 2300/night. When I checked in, I was told that the room I booked was in the old hotel, behind the newer addition, even though this was never stated on my reservation. The lady behind the desk told me that the old rooms were much worse than the newer rooms, and that I wouldn't like it.
So I paid an additional $25 US for an "upgrade" into the newer rooms, which I thought I was getting all along. Normally, I would start acting like an orangutan throwing bananas, climbing the walls and scratching my armpits until they agree to give me the newer room for the same price. But I was feeling quite civilized that day, so I just chalked it up to a learning experience. Plus, there were no bananas nearby.
Still, I didn't like this attempt to charge me an additional fee for something that I thought should be disclosed better. They should disclose that some "deluxe" rooms are older and different than other "deluxe" rooms. They should make that distinction at the reservation page. Perhaps they could name some rooms "dirty deluxe" and the other rooms "you're going to pay more than you think deluxe." That would be clearer.
Then, when I brought a girl back around midnight (who had a marvelous ass, by the way), a man standing next to the elevators asked me for my room number. When I told him, he referred to a computer print-out and stated that I only booked for one person, and would have to pay a joiner fee for 800 baht. Again, I could feel myself going into orangutan mode, but decided to remain civilized, again.
I was referred back to the main desk. Being drunk and horny, the last thing I wanted was a further review of my room charges. The woman behind the desk told me that I could simply pay the 800Baht fee, or I could add the girl to my reservation, but would only be allowed to add one girl for my entire stay. Plus, I believe that this would also give her rights to any room charges.
It was my last night in Bangkok, so I just added her to my reservation to avoid the charge. They copied her ID, and took a few minutes to write all her information on my reservation card. I finally got to my room, and was able to focus on her exceptionally round ass. The delay was annoying.
All in all, it seemed a bit of a hassle to do business with this hotel.
The room was nice, and the walk-in shower was huge--plenty of room for two girls and yourself.
And the location is fantastic. Adjacent to Gullivers. 5 minute walk to everything.

Sounds like a huge pain in the a** to deal with that when the Landmark is almost directly across the Suk from that place, and about the same price with no hassle at all.

It's amazing the hotels still come up with this crap - I think BK hotel occupancy rate is at an all time low, and they should be licking your crack because you have decided to spend your Baht with them and not a competitor. I was at a 5 star last week and I was more or less the only one in the hotel - they could not do enough for me.

Bottom line (literally) Amari Boulevard isn't girl friendly. From what I hear, none of the Amari Hotels in Bangkok or Pattaya are girlfriendly.
How unpleasant for both to be judged by a brainless security guard and told to go back to reception for the process. And then having to deal with a receptionist, waiting for money transaction, photocopy etc. Almost like immigration at Suan Plu.
Buttman 007 paid 2'300.-- for the original room, the equivalent of USD 25.-- for the upgrade (Baht 875.--) and then another Baht 800.-- joiner fee. That's Baht 3'975.-- by now. This will almost get you into a 5* hotel these days.
There are enough GF hotels of any category nearby from Landmark to JW Marriott to Majestic Grande and more.
The only good news for Buttman 007 was the good looking bottom line of the Lady in question. And that's good enough !

Indeed, the girl had a devilishly delicious, perfectly curved ass that still haunts my imagination. Firm, yet supple. Forbidden, yet inviting. Sun-ripened by 21 years of Thai sunshine. I could die with my face in that ass, and still declare life a victory.
I had spent hours trolling the Bangkok night for this little masterpiece, and I wasn't going to let an overly ambitious elevator-Nazi ruin the plans I had for my face that evening.
I have a particular game I play when I travel, and it gives me great joy. Each day, I try to say something utterly absurd to someone who cannot possibly understand exactly what I said, especially with the language barrier. After finishing up the nonsense at the front desk, my girl and I walk back to the elevator. I turn to the elevator-Nazi and state very clearly, "the gods of debauchery frown upon you, young man." He immediately looks confused; I begin to smile at my mischievous remark. The elevator door closes, my hand reaches into the back of her cotton panties, and the world is restored to order.
I have some wickedly wonderful memories from the Amari, but unfortunately they have nothing to do with the hotel or its staff.
Stay elsewhere, especially with all the deals at other hotels.
