I am in the S/G now for 13 nights. I always ask for the car park side for the front side gets the soi noise.
I have stayed here a number of times in the past but this trip I have seen a detoriation in the room. It is starting to get that used look. Yes, yes, I know... ppl stay in a room it will get the used look.
I was one of those original posters on the hot water and my comments, for me at least, still stand. If anything longer then 10 minutes then the hot water disappears. I can live with it.
I have not seen the older lady who use to run the front during the day this visit. The young girls who are there leave much to be desired in knowledge and helpfulness.
There are phones in the room and they do work for outgoing. But if one tries to call you they get the fax machine.
At 1700bt a night... hmmm. Am trying Grand Business Inn for 5 days in a week or so.

Anyone know if the construction project right across from the Grottino front door is finished? Is it a Restaurant, club, hotel, etc? I was there in January, so just wondering what it turned out to be (assuming it is finished).

I'd rather pay less as opposed to more, too. But I also don't want to stay in a dump.
Grand Business Inn might be fine, but they don't have in-room safes. I don't like that. SG is totally girlfriendly. I do like that.
For me, I just don't think that 1700 is a bad price at all. In fact, I find it very reasonable in regard to it's description by so many posters here. Just me.
Yes, I'm sure it doesn't look 100% new. Oh well. Also sure it doesn't look nearly as worn as most other places.
I love new places. I admit it. But usually hard to find a combo of new, reasonable price, well-equipped, & 100% girlfriendly. I'll take my chances, hedged due to all the info here, on SG. I think it'll be a very good experience. And if I'm wrong, then I'm wrong. I'll learn from it.

Do ya'll still havve to give directions to the cabbies when going back to the SG? EVERY time I took a cab back to the place last year I had to give directions.
SG is a really nice place, but damn...they should advertise more/put the word out on the street somehow about the place so that it's well known like the Manhattan or GP.

It's the stupid taxi drivers fault that he don't know shit. It all depends when he left the rice paddy...
Just tell them Lobinsons...
I had a few drivers don't even know wher the f***ing Landmark is.

rooms will already be new re-done in the summer.
advertise?? they have a pretty good occupancy rate as it is.
the elder lady is gone. the new one is a lot cuter. she speaks english, too. try to speak slowly, simple and clearly!! TIT.

In the language section of the homepage there are pronounciations for directions to give taxi drivers. I'm pretty poor with language, sometimes even English (lol), but I think I can do this part well enough. Of course I carry a printout of the page, or at least a cheat sheet, to refer to. No way I'd be able to memorize it.

Gee whiz... just tell them to go to soi 19/sukhumvit and when you see the family mart on the left shout STOP.
OR
Tell them to take you to Robinsons Soi 17/Sukhumvit and walk the 2 minute walk down Soi 17 to SG

Well I've read almost all (48!!!) pages of this thread after this hotel was mentioned in reply to my post asking about the Nana hotel.
I have to say it was disappointing having to wade through MANY of the pages, which were a pissing contest about who was best-qualified to have an opinion about hotels. Otherwise some very valuable advice. May I respectfully suggest that if you find yourself knocking an individual (rather than a hotel) just take it offline?
Anyway I e-mailed the manager (as suggested) asking if there are ANY specials available to BKT forum members in April as 1,700 b every night just adds up too quickly for me. In a very short time he replied politely saying "our room rates are 1,700 Bath for all rooms since 1.10.2004" and suggesting others in my price range. If there's no kind of discount available I'll have to give it a miss I think but I appreciated the prompt and courteous reply, F.
