I'll add my 2 cents, since I have stayed at both of them (regular rooms at both Swiss Park and TL) :
Quote: from DrLove on 6:56 pm on Sep. 9, 2007 Location: Swiss Park (15 meters from the main road) Town Lodge is 10-15 minutes walk from the main road. They do have a free Tuk Tuk, but is sometimes not available. Taxis drive by less frequently.
More like a 6-7 minute walk for me. But, my TGF really doesn't like it because it is too far. Wowser would have said it was a 2 beer walk.
Quote: from DrLove on 6:56 pm on Sep. 9, 2007 Quality of the rooms: Town Lodge The rooms in Swiss Park are less in quality (older than Town Lodge) but still acceptable.
Agreed. TL room is quite nice. The lights under the bed are a real nice touch.
Quote: from DrLove on 6:56 pm on Sep. 9, 2007 Size of the rooms: Swiss Park The rooms in Town Lodge can be compared with shoeboxes
TL room is certainly smaller than what you get at the Swiss Park.
Quote: from DrLove on 6:56 pm on Sep. 9, 2007 Swimming Pool: Swiss Park Don't even look for one at the Town Lodge
True. But, you should know that the pool at the Swiss Park is on floor 7, and is right next to the room used for the breakfast buffet.
Quote: from DrLove on 6:56 pm on Sep. 9, 2007 Breakfast: Swiss Park The breakfast at Town Lodge is sparse. I remember the sign which explains how to make your own.
My TGF likes the Swiss Park buffet because she likes the way they cook the bacon. I think it is fine because they have several kinds of soup that I like for breakfast. At the TL, though, you can ask for breakfast to be made for you (free, as far as I remember), assuming the cook is there.
Quote: from DrLove on 6:56 pm on Sep. 9, 2007 Girl Friendly: No problems at Town Lodge Swiss Park, book a double.
True.
Quote: from DrLove on 6:56 pm on Sep. 9, 2007 Price: Around the same.
True AFAIK
I would add that the TL has wireless Internet as part of the cost of the room, plus they have 1 desktop machine available for use for no additional fee. The Swiss Park does not have Internet service. I'm staying at the Swiss Park in October because the TGF thinks the TL is too far to walk. However, she has no problems going to Toxic for a drink. Go figure.

I also have stayed at the Swiss Park a couple of years back. it was 1300 a night through the net, I stayed for 3-4 nights? I'd say 2 star I decided I'd camp a few more nights, so I asked at the desk ok Miss ? Ok Sir but it's 1750 a night now! no safe in the room No worries Bye Bye No use trying to get the same rate Barra got me in down the Soi Business Inn @700 a night NO star unless your a flea. But did the job for a couple of nights. Town Lodge would be my Choice 3 star Cleaner Friendly and never a Dull moment at Toxic on Round Table nights! plus you get to meet some of the animals from BK2night all in all if your a Lazy Fat c*** then stay at the Swiss Park as its closer to Circus.

Thanks DL for excelent compare. I also like that it has marble floors, not carpet. They do have an in room safe, and internet now (so I was told - but need to check) and they were upgrading the rooms. Pool looks very nice indeed and location is superb. Seems like a well kept secret where even Stu the millionair ( if you saw his other thread) stays. Looks quite a good value based on the room rate at Asiarooms: http://www.asiarooms.com/thailand/bangkok/swiss_park.html 1260 bhat for double - not bad. jingjo: never ask to extend at the front desk. Go online and book such extension. Its the abc rule of booking hotels in BKK. Use the f*** internet.... , they have also renovated the rooms (or at least some so ask for a high floor) and they do have a safe in the room so all seems cool now. Of course you can pay 4 times or more and stay at the Landmark, SGS etc... but SP location is very good... so for those who are on a budget indeed looks like a good choice. Cheers! Ap.-

Those who bash the Town Lodge rooms calling them shoeboxes size, will not get a free drink at Toxic! Cheers! Ap.-

DL, Well maybe Town Lodge rooms are small or on the smallish size ("cozy"), but I am quite sure they are much bigger than a shoebox! Unless you are a giant That is it, no free drinks for you! Yes you can buy to all. Cheers! Ap.-
