I like the Grottino but think they are starting to overprice themselves.. saying that they are usually busy.
For the price quoted 1950 for the next trip thought maybe I could find larger room and bathroom.... no complaints about anything (apart from the building noise from next door which is a b**ger when you are trying to sleep at mid day, not hotels fault).
If they had stuck at 1800 baht I would deffo be back and have previously recommended it to friends who stay for a month or so at a time. Yeh I know it is only 150 baht per night... but just comparing it to the likes of Dynasty Grande with larger room and both a seperate shower and bath and twin wash basins for 2000 baht..
I think Town Lodge has same owners but is only 1200 baht good except for right down soi 18 (any good bars along here to break walk up???)

1950 BHT,,, yep starting to push the value equation at that price. I love the place and have said that many times BUT at 1950 I may look elsewhere for a hotel. Swiss Park has a good write up in "field reports" by drunken tiger and at less than 1200 BHT,may be worth a look.
Swiss Grottino MANGEMENT,, how about a price freeze of 1,800 for previous customers? and / or BKTF members,, the ones that helped make your establishment a success.
The price rise is not only the 150 BHT but also the Baht exchange rate has been very strong over the last 6 months,,, for a lot of us this "in real terms" is more like a 15 - 20 % rise.

i personally have not complaints about SG either
i enjoed the room and the service to a T
however, the size, location and 'experience" is now pricing itself out of the realm of reasonable for 'total experience"
it is what it is and if/when they decide to increase the price i'm sure they will still get reservations with or without me and others....but it will not be for long term stays for sure, and maybe thats what they are pricing against?

I agree.  Funny before June the price was supposed to go up to only 1900 THB. I think the new rennovations they made to the lobby jacked the price up another 50.

Actually on second thoughts,,,,, Its great they are increasing prices unreasonably,,, the hotel and rooms are nice,, close to the action and when they fail through greedy over-pricing, a bargain sale of the entire business may be available.
I will miss the place until I finally own it

Just had another find stay at this place. Been my place of residence for a while now. Will be back there next Monday.
Glad to see a separate check in area now. Never was fond of checking in while disturbing folks eating.
No problems with the internet. After checking out and on the way to Pattaya I noted the room rate was 1800bt per night.
The front desk girls friend who handles the taxi (van) is one helluva of a driver. I think I found religion again after the ride down to Pattaya. FAST and Snake driving (weaving).
