I am staying at the Swiss park at the moment. Will agree with a lot of the comments. have room 170^ corner room with three windows with a fanstic view. room is ok, shower abit old but the room is ok for my needs. fell in the shower and ripped the shower curtain, they were in the room in two mins, job done. as for the food, crap if you are looking for a nice breakfast, o.k for me. the cashier a grumpy bird never smiles booked a good price, about 1,130 booked through Tim, who advertises on forum, dont think is the price at the moment. have no dealings with the travel agents

I like Khun Sa on the night shift at TL the best because within minutes of meeting her she was marketing ‘a pretty woman offering full service’. Now that’s customer care Meanwhile the staff at Swiss Park were a bit more stuffy when checking in. I saw the Gdiary on the counter & said my soon to join me ‘wife’ would love to journal her LOS adventures in a diary. “No no sir” as they snatched the magazine from me, “not for her”

Got out of the taxi on Soi 11 close to the 3 star Swiss Park Hotel & was immediately approached by a tout who advised the Swiss Park was fully booked & for me to follow him. I declined. I had booked a standard room & they put me on the top storey -18th floor The room was ‘tired’ & in need of a refurbishment, the view out the window was NOT a Vista of the upper Soi’s on Sukhumvit Rd but of a completed skeleton of a Trendy Apartment Tower – very big, very close & really f**king ugly. No construction noise during my stay. The general mood of the room was a little ‘depressing’. Still I decided to keep the room Book for 2 people to avoid joiner fee (only the cost of another breakfast). Location of this Hotel is a drawcard, 100m to the start of Suk Soi 11 & a little further to Nana BTS. A supermarket just around the corner on Soi 11 to restock the booze, condoms & snacks. The pool on the 7th floor is small, 2’s comfortable but 3’s a crowd sort of a feeling but a good pool non-the-less. Breakfast is included, & they do provide a huge range of goodies (probably too much). The bacon is low quality & by the end of my stay I couldn’t stomach it. Didn’t bring a laptop so didn’t enquire about connectivity. In-room safe provided I went off down country for 10 days & returned to the Swiss Park. I was given a new room on the 8th floor on the opposite side (pool side). This was a vast improvement in quality – I had a nice view onto the lower Soi’s, it was brighter & looked refurbished I Paid 1300Bt per night via http://www.thaihoteldiscounts.com in September (low season) although Saucytim has mentioned they are increasing tariffs in 2009 so this price may no longer be available. All up I would stay here again. A solid 3* Hotel with great location & great price, but be sure to book on the pool side of the Hotel

By all means specify the pool side when booking over the internet.I always do.But quite often on checking in you will be given a room on the other side unless you actually ask for the pool side. However, the staff will always assist in moving you to the pool side if there is an available room. You only have to ask.Yes the rates at Swiss Park,as with almost all other Bangkok hotels, will be about 20-25% higher next year. The higher rates were fixed before the financial meltdown. It is anybody`s guess whether there will be a readjustment if there is a substantial decline in tourist numbers next year.

Has anybody stayed at this hotel recently? How was it? I'm thinking of booking here cuz they say its location is quite convenient (close to NANA and BTS). What do you all think?

... recengtly read on a web site that the Swiss Park started interior renovations in April, continuing "until further notice"... I'd be skeptical of staying in a Thai property under construction, regardless of what the management says. ... Thai contractors (and property owners) are notorious for trashing on other's quiet enjoyment... if you pre-pay for this place and suffer problems with construction noise, you are not just screwed, but Thai-screwed... they got your money and nothing in the world short of "local business practices" will get it back. ... do your homework yourself, and use others' recommendations as single data points to be verified separately... and do NOT trust the local travel agents for hotel recommendations.

We are selling the Swiss Park on a frequent basis. The hotel is postponing the renovation till after Christmas. Hence the very low rates currently available. Trying to get all the customers back after the hotel advised the renovation work would start. Tim

At 990 baht for a superior double on Tim`s website Swiss Park is a very good deal. I regularly stayed at Swiss Park until about 2 years ago.I do not know whether standards have been maintained but,if they have, a superior room is a reasonable size for 1 person, and occasionally 2,with a king size bed, very good views from the high pool side floors, and a decent breakfast with a good choice of Asian and western food. Certainly the rooms would be improved by an update. However, they were well maintained when I was there, and the staff with the odd exception were helpful. The pool is small but it is clean, and there is no doubting the hotel`s very convenient location. But if a reasonably fast Internet connection is important Swiss Park is not the place to go.It has a very slow Internet connection.

... my intention is not to paint all travel industry professionals here with the same brush... by "local", I mean the legion of Thai agents who recommend on the basis of their interest. ... I believe saucytim operates an Internet discount web site, with a full complement of selections... useful to shop through his list. ... if you are headbound on getting the US$35 rate, there are many choices... consider, though, with the incredible deals in Thailand, seems a pity to waste the opportunity to stay in some pretty nice digs at very reasonable rates.
