Detailed maps would be nice feature in a download section. Also, a map of a little higher on Suk (22-24, 31-33) would be nice.

My turn to contribute.
I've been staying at Grottino Residence for a few days now and I am very impressed! This place is not for a party animal who wants to trash up the room, smoke crack and pot, if you are that guy, please go to Nana Hotel or Grace Hotel and do your John Balushi there. Grottino is classy with an understated peaceful ambiance. Please respect Grottino!
Notes:
1. Taxi could not find it. I had to tell him out to get there by trial and error. Now that I know where it is, its extremely easy to find! From Sukumvit, you can either go left up Soi 17 or 19. 19 is better because the street is a real street. When going up Soi 19 from Suk, (youre on the side of Westin/Robinsons at this point) you'll past the Westin's Garage on the left. Now keep looking for Family Mart. Once you see it, take a left before Family Mart, not after. Go down that street for 10 sec. and you'll see the Swiss Grottino Restaurant on the left side. This is the lobby entrance. The other entrance that says "G" on the door is to use after you check in. Basically, this is a residence apartment.
Walking distance from Grottino is a 5 min walk to Sukumvit, or even less.
To eat, go downstairs of Robinson's, there is a tops market, how convenient!! They have a food court which has AC and prices are the same as street price (30 baht for Kao Mun Gai, for example!) There;s also a McDs there.
Grottino Restaurant itself is a nice clean place in which to eat! Their food smells delicious! The owner, Daniel is always there and is a very hospital guy, a gentlemen. He'll help you out in every way.
A note about noise:
Very quiet. The hotel patrons themselves are not party animals so its cool. The Karaoke next store is not too bad, you can hear it but its not overly powerful. You can sleep. But you have to watch out for the guys playing midnite soccer in the street! They love to yell! They dont do this every night, just sometimes. I didnt hear traffic noise at all! This place is great!
I love Grottino Residence! It's my style. It has a Thai style peaceful ambiance about it, simple and clean. As I said, I appreciate class and beautiful interior design and I respect it. I hope you can appreciate it too!

Well I guess my toga party plans are gone with the wind. I probably should cancel the band. So much for the live rendention of "Shout" I was looking forward to.

Hi,
I've been reading this thread on Grottino and am very interested to stay there. I'd like to know though, how does this compare to Palazzo Hotel? We'll be leaving tonight for bangkok, and hope to get some useful info.
And yes, I'm a newbie in this forum :P

sorry, not familiar with the palazzo hotel.
it compares to the majestic, but bigger roms, better cable tv and more modern interior.
