... great som-tum goong in that area, but you have to go early, as everything out there closes at about 7.00p.

If you are booked at the Radisson Hotel Bangkok on Rama 9, then you are in walking distance of 3 of the better high-end soapies. Long Beach is practically next door. Utopia and Amsterdam are 10 minutes to walk.
The Phra Ram 9 MRT station is also a 10 minute walk at just under 1 kilometer.
The RCA night spots are nearby as well.

Around 3 km... too far to walk.
Your problem will be getting to/from Soi Cowboy by taxi. The traffic can be horrible on both Rama 9 and Asoke.
Use the MRT between Suk station and Phra Ram 9 whenever possible.

Thanks sai tai once again,
a few observation on this hotel, after having stayed on Suk for so long it was a welcome change to stay here.
1. The hotel has a joiner fee of 1000bht per guest per night.
2. there is security at both the entrance.
3. Big indian crowd of Package holidy makers (bus loads of them)
4. Its was a nice to vist the RCA on two night, some very nice ladies, but not sure how it works.
5. My first and last stay at this hotel.

I stayed at Grand Millennium Sukhumvit Bangkok which is within walking distance (maybe 30 metres) from Soi Cowboy. You don't even need to cross any main road.
Soi Cowboy is one of the side lanes on your way to the nearby BTS in your walk from the hotel.

In good traffic it cost 80 baht to make soi 4 (nanna)
Soi cowboy as would be less.
There is a good beer garden with food and music next door. (a few freelancers)
The Massage palour is 50 metres away.
Beware of Traffic jams peek hour.
Still the hotel itself is good value and though alittle outta the way I enjoyed the stay there.
The breakfast is not bad either.
