Realize everyone has their own list, but am curious as to what the current "best of" list consists of for Soi 33 aka Millionaires Row bars? Back in 96-97, I believe it was Renoir and Monet which were considered creme de la creme by those types of bar standards. Which bars are in on Soi 33 now? It certainly appears things have changed a bit......
The brothers and I tried a place back in late May. Can't remember the name but it started with a "J" (keep thinking Julios, but I know that's not right). It's at the end of the street of bars to the left (green neon lights above entrance). Anyway, the place was dead when we hit it close to 10pm. The girls were aggressive (the one coming on to me appeared out of desperation to give me her name and cellphone number within the short 20-30 minutes we were in the place). Also, they were probably near empty because of service (we asked for cognac and the girl taking our order asked if we wanted to mix it with coke or water!).... We didn't stay long and then quickly popped our heads in a few other places on the way out, but nothing was memorable. Do recall though that all the ones we scouted were still on the same side of the street as the "J" establishment (the Monets and Renoirs were on the other side).
Maybe I'm a bit of a skeptic, but for the apparent charges levied on drinks (about 300-400bht, although you do have to watch the final tab to make sure the price on the bill matches what they all too quickly showed you in the way of a price list when you ordered) and the ladies' drinks etc., the quality of the girls were pretty bad. In the "J" place, I'd give ALL of them there (about 15 of them total) 5's or 6's max. That's pretty bad, when this road is touted as being on the high end of such things. Was it just a bad night or did we hit the wrong places? Would welcome some stalwart veterans' opinions and suggestions, and perhaps a bit more of an updated 'in' list.

for me for sure dali and christies are the prefered choices, also the office and wall street i like. about the drink prices it is actually not that expensive, as long as you can control your spending on the lady drinks. usually all bars have happy hours and if not a beer or whiskeycoke shouldn't be more than thb 150 in all of the places. if you really want to get a lot of booze just order an entire bottle of spirits as the mixers will come free and zou can keep your bottle at the bar as long as it lasts. so really a good alternative to the other areas patpong, nana and cowboy!

Thanks for the recommendations. Among the several you suggested, how would you rank them in terms of service, girls and atmosphere? As I noted in the "J" place we hit, I was disappointed in the quality of girls there (some of the bars in Soi Cowboy and Nana beat hands down the quality of girls at that Millionaire's Row place).....
I will definitely check out your recommendations, but going in armed with some useful pointers from you would be appreciated.

well the quality varies a lot, even from day to day, as some of the real cute ones are gong to university or are just to lazy for showing up! but generally i would try dali and christies first and then may be wall street and the office. the last one is rather new and has a lot of girls also i would say in average not quite as beautiful as the other places.

- quality certainly can vary, - one reason, often a good looking "New" girl arrives, and within a few days, a local based Farang has moved her out, - and in with him. Think a good percentage, would be more than happy to move in with a Guy, who gave them an allowance of around 10,000bt a month - of course some get lucky and get alot more ! the ideas to get them early, when they dont know any better 555 !

no prob i am usually around in town, as long i do not have to travel on business! just let me know when you will be heading to bangkok.
tpe, you are right, may be thb 10,000 is a little bit to less for the soi 33 cuties, but there are a lot of them recently being taken out by some local expats as mia nois or permanents usually on a thb 15-20,000 baisis when they have to pay for their own apartement or moving in somebodys condo for 10k. but who wants to have somebody living permanently with you, as it does spoil the extra fun!

Hey, DJ, how you been? I've not been on the Boards much since our trip, but have a chance to do some catching up today. If you go through on this let me know, one of the girls at a bar there has a card for a whiskey bottle at the Huntsman Pub (in the Landmark). It's fairly full as we got there late. I'll e-mail and try to work out a swap for you.
Also, if you think the barfines are bad for the girls, just wait till you try and barfine one of staff, I really got gouged. But it's a long story that I am trying to decide whether to dump in here somewhere or not...
