So weird how races differ when it comes to amusement and spending money. For $300 I want a 4 course meal in a 3 star (Michelin) restaurant and a marathon shag with 2 Elite super models.
This is by no means a racial slur, I am just interested in why you would settle for a meal (in a night club of all places) and a chat with a pretty girl. Every time my (Asian) colleagues take me to piano, I am baffled by the amount of money they spend for nothing (at least in my western eyes it's nothing).
Who says I'm settling? This was just one night out and one single purchase. I'd spend $300 for courtside whatever tickets and no I don't expect to shag the players. LOL. I prefer my shags in the afternoon with no strings attached anyway. Nightclub shags sometimes do come with the strings. There are only so many clubs.
What you're saying is why would anyone want a $300 golf club, $300 tennis racket, $300 meal (with or without, etc... etc. IS available by the way as per my FR), $300 hotel room, instead of.....
In the end, it's just $300 spent on something. Plenty of westerners doing the same in titty clubs in the west.

Ok he does have a point here. It reminds me of when I was in a titty bar in Houston one time. This chic gave me an incredible lap dance for 15-20 mins. The problem was when finished and said.."Ok, that will be $300". She then almost started to cry when I said, no f***ing way. Needless to say the manager asked me to leave..lol.
Plenty of stupid guys spending a lot more then 300 for nothing in the USA.

So, yes, in that case Packripper has a good and valid point, if he includes himself in that category...
Agreed, spending this kind of cash in a country like Thailand (while, clearly, not impossible), just seems foolish -- but hey, if he's got the cash, and feels it's ;cool' to do so, more power to him... (or, something).

There are probably people out there thinking that those of us who spend $3 on a bottle of beer -which I also do- are spending "huge amounts of money." It just so happens that I don't feel the difference between 3 cents and $300. If I had less, then yes, I might think it was a lot of money. And if I didn't have any sense, I don't think I would have the funds to begin with. But really, look at the big picture: it's just one share of Google.

I'm not averse to investing, shopping, or indulging anywhere. What do you have against Thailand?
And the concept of "nothing" is different to different people. I think spending money to attend World Cup matches is nothing, but have spent more than a few bucks attending two Superbowls. Dinner and drinks in a gent's club is no different than dinner and drinks in a gogo bar. The main difference is essentially what your bill comes out to, which is clearly going to be an issue for some people and not an issue for others.
