You can thank the low cost air fares (via Jet Airlines, Indigo, Air Asia, etc) from India to Bangkok for this. Additionally the inexpensive hotel rates here compared to India makes Thailand a cheaper travel destination, and not to mention the abundance of cheap and good P4P which is practically non-existent in their own country.

It doesn't work that way with the TGs. If they get more business they'll actually keep the prices low. Besides, Indians are expert negotiators. They're normally able to get ST for only 500 B.

Being an Indian, I would say Bangkok hotel prices are cheaper than India itself. There not much of an exchange. In my first trip to LOS in 1991 Thai Bhat was weaker than the Indian Rupee. Now it its the otherway around. Yes, Indian have hell lot of money now days but very very few will stay in a fancy place, rather stick to Hotel Ambassador and the like. They worst part is the travel in groups and scared to travel alone. Yes, expert negotiators. But, somebodys win is somebodys loss. The winner at the end is the service providor. Sorry to have digressed from the main topic. Will go to Shock39 soon hopefully.
