mm3, They didn't drive but they went back with guys who drive Benz, BMW or any sport cars. If not they just took a cab back with their friends.
One of the hottest made about 600 drinks a month. The dancers get paid 100 Baht a drink so that will make her 60,000 Baht + 15,000 salary + tips. I say they make close to 100K a month. For the everage dancer, she shouldn't get lower than 200 drinks a month so I say with everything she make roughly 50K.
The story is different for the PRs. If they sit with a customer for the whole night, the drink usually run no more than 8 drinks + a couple drinks you give her. Normally they make around 150-250 drinks a months + 10,000 salary.

Supaporn, my story was I spent a whole week every day at one dancer and still couldn't get the girl's phone number. First of all she said she didn't have a phone. But heh with this line of work they must have a phone. So later on I could manage to get the number from the head of the dancer group since we were familiar with her.
She went out with me once for dinner but that's it. A week later I tried to get her out for dinner again and she said yes on the phone. When the time came she stood me up with no phone call. Made me a bit mad though. I could use the time I wasted for something valueable.
I happened to me on several occasions with several girls that if they decided to stand you up, they won't let you know. You'll find out yourself that they won't show up period. So now I just stick with PR I knew if I want a company at Orbit.

in context, that would be = 'being a player (is ok), as long as it isn't done in an insulting/inappropriate fashion.'
Anyway, the point was, that's how we 'get away with it.' You get away with it by making it a situation where you're not really getting away with anything. They get what they want. We get what we want.
Just IMO anyway. Works well enough for me.

I think "jao choo" is normally translated as playboy, but it basically means the same thing.
"Bab" is probably better transliterated as "baeb", right? As in "baeb nai?" meaning "which type?"
"Naa Gliet" I think is usually translated something like "detestable" or "abhorrent", but I'd trust packripper more on the subtlety. This is one of the "Naa" words I was talking about in the Language section. In this case "gliet" means "hate" or "detest" so "naa gliet" is "worthy of being detested", i.e. "detestable".
So I would translate the whole phrase as "It's okay to be a playboy as long as you're not sleazy and demeaning." (Leave the leisure suit at home, Larry.)

As all will realize over time, the literal translation is not always most accurate (unless you're watching a Hong Kong movie from the 70's). And often, there may not be a literal translation that has the same meaning as intended by a particular speaker.
For example with 'jao choo' :
One can say....
1) "kao jao choo a'pao?" this jao choo is something like an adjective OR a noun
2) "haam jao choo, na" this is something like an adjective OR a verb
3) "nisai jao choo ru plao?" this is most like an adjective
And if we just substituted "playboy/playgirl (which doesn't really get the same feel, does it?)".... It'd come out as....
1) "He/she a playboy?"
2) "Don't playboy."
3) "Attitude playboy?"
Which is one reason why I usually raise an eyebrow when I hear of the use of translators. Sure, I bet you can get "you're cute, you're pretty, nice body, and how much for 2 hours? across...."  ..... but I think there might be a lot that doesn't get across as well. It's fine if she's a human slot machine (pun intended). But believe it or not, even a working girl (some of them, and perhaps many of them) might require more groundwork than that. So there's no reason to scratch your heads if they aren't climbing over each other to get at you like a bitch in heat.
Ah, and Zorchi.... I'm just there once in awhile. Like it/comfortable there. I wouldn't say I'm a regular anywhere but am usually at least vaguely acquainted with a mixed bag of PRs, cheer guests, service 'captains', waiters/waitresses, etc. at a mixed bag of venues. When we finally meet, chances are you'll probably know my face by recognition (at least that's what most say). In the end, it can be a really small city (a good thing to remember if you're here for the long haul).

I think "jao choo" is always a noun in the cases you cited. The confusion comes from Thai grammar being much more flexible than English, especially in regard to there being many optional components (e.g. implied subjects, verbs, tenses, articles ...).
1) {Is} He {a} playboy <or not>?
2) Don't {be a} playboy?
3) {Does} he {have the} attitude {of a} playboy?
The automatic translators don't have context, so they often don't do a very good job of filling in the blanks. But people who know Thai sentence structure can usually figure it out when all the individual words are translated. Although even with all the words I'm still quite often baffled at some of the implications, especially with anything in the realm of cause/effect, logical inferences, ....

For these sentences.... I'd rephrase as:
1) {Is} He {a} playboy <or not>?
Kao pen (to be) jao choo (noun) ru plao?
2) Don't {be a} playboy.
Ya pen (to be) kon jao choo (adjective).
whereas 'ham jao choo' is don't <verb *action of being a player*>
3) {Does} he {have the} attitude {of a} playboy?
Kao mee (to have) nisai jao choo (adjective) ru plao?
Of course this is all basic Thai. For more complex sentence structures with more 'proper' Thai, even as a Thai, I'm pretty much lost (since I didn't go through schooling here). Ah, that said, lingual ability (and accent somewhat, in the way it is in many parts of Europe) is a class indicator (for those wondering how locals easily spot working girls). Myself, sometimes I can't use it to differentiate classes, but "adults" I know can usually do it (combined with that sense thing mentioned on another thread). Also though, I would say most can tell if a foreigner has LEARNED Thai from a bar girl or working girl. So don't be to free speaking about what you're saying because it telegraphs your private activities and acquaintences.
