BTW Purachai won't last forever and things will most likely relax after him but I belive the general trend will continue. Just to show off a bit more  I (and I'm sure others) predicted this 15 years ago and so far it's been as expected.
It will be 2 steps towards "respectability" and one step back but gradually the line is moved. Have your fun now. Then next generation won't have as much. ( Too bad for our sons and nephews...;) )

well actually it does not matter to me they clamp down things, as i mainly migrated to the more mainstream thai places like mp's, g-clubs or discos anyway!
if you are not dumb foolish and stupid one can and will still have a lot of fun in LOS despite the fact that so many things have changed the last 12 months!
nevertheless i can forsee that they still will need the tourists and it will be typical thai to loosen up things especially closing times in a not so distant future esp. when they do realise that even mainstream tourism gets hurt by the 02:00 am closing curfew!
look what happened to the phillipines when the cleaned up manila in the early - mid 90's -> tourism nearly collapsed and now the government finds it hard to draw back the toursits into the country again. i hope that the thai government will understand that more quick than the philippinos did!

Don't forget "stubborn." Certainly things will change and old-timers will lament about the way things used to be (including me, I'm sure), but it will always be much better than the rest of the world. You might have to find your sanuk in a different way, and it will certainly continue to get more expensive, but it will always be there.

sure terrosism is the smallest factor in all the things which are happening in thailand these days! mind you the restrictions on the night life and tighter closing hours were already imposed before september 11 th here inthailand. it started out in june 2001 when gogo's and discos had to shut at 03:00 am and pretty soon thereafter was the 02:00 am curfew imposed at a time when nobody did know anything about the al-quaeda!

the plan is to divide thais from farang, at the same time as sukhumvit, rachada and other mixed venues are tightened, things are very loose at patpong, pathaya and other 99% tourist spots.

As of last night, Saturday Dec 7th... Grace is still closed down after 2am. Or I should say that it is not totally closed but no alcohol is sold after 2am.
There were some girls in there just sitting there waiting but most of the girls were in front of grace than inside grace. I did find that there are a lot of girls in Nana Hotel eating so I think that has became the replacement for Grace for the time being.
Hopefully this helps for an update...
