I have been travelling in LOS many times and had no troubles.
Never even got into nasty conversation.SEEN some happenings without involving.
I like this basic idea to avoid fights/violence as it is also common opinion in here .
But this idea "there being farangs that really need a lesson"...from whom ?
In fights vectors change with speed and unwanted things happen.
Wide Spectrum , You seem to have spent your time well in training so I can say You already know what kind of damage edged weapons / sharp objects REALLY do.
Bros , do some research and You notice that the using of firearms is not uncommon to thais , when they consider situation being offensive to their honor.
I want to remind You what Packripper stated in other thread :There is no rules of marq.Queensberry in LOS.

Fanta4 is right. And for a drunken football hooligan a fast and dry kick into his manhood by your Thai girl will teach him a lesson.
And when this doesn't work and you really can't avoid a fight just try to end it as quick and unspectacular as possible.
By the way Gracies' guys are teaching the absolutely right stuff.....look at their great succes in ultimate fights...
And for weapons: you can maybe expect weapons when you take up a fight with a Thai. Another reason why you should do all you can to avoid a fight with a local Thai. And if no other choice then rely on your quick legs...not for kicking...but for running away

The Gracie's technique of submission holds and chokes may be a bit too limited for "barfights". Usually, football hooligans and the like come in pairs or more. Yes in UFC's the Gracie's style is proven to be effective, but only in the beginning. Also, UFC was created to a degree by the Gracies. To prove to the MA community it's prowess. If I'm not mistaken, been awhile since I kept up with UFC, what rules now is basically umm, pure asswhoopin. Pitfighting, shootfighting, vale tudo, or whatever name/discipline is used to describe a hybrid MA style.
What is needed in the environment of barfights is very quick and effective strikes. Usually to the pressure points; throat, groin, knees, and kidneys. Then you book it out cuz like everyone here has posted, no one's on your side, including the local "authorities". Can you even imagine seeing a guy putting an attacker in an armbar or ankle lock in a street brawl? It's pretty nonexistent because it's not only 1 guy you want to submit.
