I'm going to be in BKK over the weekend and most of next week and would probably be expected to entertain some clients while I'm there. The clients are a mixed lot, thai and expat.
What are the good places to take them? Usually been pretty happy having a pint or two at the Huntsman and have never really explorered the club / restaurant scene in BKK.
The total budget for dinner / drinks and more drinks is around US$200-250 for the night for two or three people.
What are my options?

You might want to ask your Thai friends/partners when you get here. Because it all depends on the crowd you are with (and your budget).

Hmm I think it entirely depends on what kind of entertainment you would like to give to your clients or what they expect once in Bangkok....
Some few good recommendations were given by the bros. already. However, I may suggest to start early with some beers either at HUNTSMAN (Landmark) or at THE LONDONERS. Once your guts are asking for something to eat pay the bill and head to the Thai restaurant at the HYATT ERAWAN....after that meal you may wish to request them what they would like to do....then, you will have a bunch of choices in Bangkok........Have fun!!!!

Don't forget that many visitors want to look at Patpong -- just because it's
(in)famous. I've known lots of business associates who just wanted to go and see it; not because they wanted girls or because PP was the best place for that, but just to see it.

Thanks again for your input.  Should be an interesting evening .. have been told I should take the folks out to dinner at the Dusit, Benjarang (sp?).
Staying at the Crowneplaza. What's the scene like in the bar there? How about the club at the Dusit?
Just looking at things not on the beaten track?

You could try Silom village on Silom road. Food is Ok and there is a traditional Thai show there. But you need to eat early. Last show is 9PM
Then you could take the stroll down to Patpong. About 15 minutes easy.
