Well, I survived the flight. I've been checking out some of the sights today and am thinking about heading to CM2 later. I'm staying at Novatel Lotus on Sukhumvit 33; what's the best way to get to CM2 tonight? Take the Sky Train to Central Station or just jump in a cab? Also, when's a good time to show up (not super packed but still hopping to some extent)?

Take the sky train around 23:30 hrs at Phrom Phong BTS Station (the closest BTS Stop to Soi 33 I reckon) and get off at SIAM BTS Stop. Keep in mind that the sky train service usually stops sharply around midnight.
CONCEPT CM2 is on the same side of EMPORIUM (just to give you a landmark on which side of the road you should exit the BTS Station) so, be careful on the EXIT you have to take while at SIAM. If still in doubt, just ask the BTS staff (at their counters) where NOVOTEL is located. They will help you.
You can take a cab after midnight if you want. You may wish either to cross Sukhumvit Av. by using the BTS bridge and take the ride straightforward to SIAM or just take the cab in Soi 33 and wait a bit till the cab gets the bloody U-turn opposite Emporium before heading to SIAM.
IMHO the best time to hit CM2 is between 23:00 - 24:00 hrs. HAVE FUN!

i usually hit cm2 about 00:00-00:30! but as i guess you will be probably willing to check out cowboy or nana before. in that case you will be much better advised to take a taxi.
a taxi is more convenient especially if you do not know where cm2 is located. the cost for the ride in a taxi might be thb 50 maximum, whereas the skytrain will be about thb 30. so what is the point saving thb 20 = usd 0.50 for the unconvenience of the skytrain!
the streets are usually empty by that timeof the day, so a taxi will be also most probably more fast than the skytrain!

Being jumping from LaLunar (soi 26) to CM2 these weeks I must aware the bros that Sukhumvit is often f_cking crowded around midnight. Not as smooth as before. Believe it or not the junction Sukhumvit w. ASOKE Rd is often a pain in the butt (mainly during the weekends). Same thing with the junction Sukhumvit w. Nana Soi 4/3....so, don't be surprised if the ride Emporium-Siam around midnight will take more than 10 min....just a thought, just a thought.

agree weekends is a differnt scenario as all the thai boys and girls ahve to show off their cars on their way to mos, la lunar, forte, orbit and narci!
so a lot of unnatural congestion around asoke!
but in the week things are normally okay!

I just got back BKK a couple of days ago and I hit CM2 on a Friday night.
I stayed in Sukhumvit Soi 4 and it cost me around 50baht to get there. So I think ir is definitely better than catching the skytrain.
Got there around 10pm and nothing really happening but it really got bustling at around 12am. so that would be the best time.
Quality of girls above average...spoke to a Russian FL and the going rate was 4500baht longtime...she was beautiful but decided to give it a miss this time.

BK, you are right about the weekend being a waste of time in there.
only jerks around and the nice girls usually go with their friends partying in other places anyway!
so better options for the weekend are narci, mos, la lunar, rca or the ratchada discos.
anyway many locals leave the town for a trip to hua hin or more to pattaya for the weekend. it is amazing how many bkk guys and girls you will find in pattaya on friday - sunday, all trying to escape the bangkok scene for the weekend!
