All,
I'm a newbie to BKK. I went thru newbie section and did a thorough search but couldn't find the info I'm looking for. Forgive me if this topic has been discussed before.
I used to live in San Francisco Bay area and loved to frequent a SF club called "Polly Esther's (www.pollyesthers.com)". I like the club b/c they play non-stop 70's and 80's music like ABBA, etc. I prefer them over techno stuff since I can get pretty intimate with the girl I'm dancing with, doing swing moves etc. Does anyone know a similar club in BKK, preferably full of regular TGs rather than BGs, and have a big open dance floor. So far, I've been to RCA, Hollywood and DF and, for all of them, people seem to dance around their own tables. I recall reading some post mentioning that MOS's Wed night theme is 70's-80's. Has anyone been there on Wed night? Can you meet a lot of TGs since it's in the middle of the week? Thanks for any input. Cheers.

Yes, MOS does have the retro theme night on Weds. Crowd wise, it really depends on your luck. No guarantees here but worth a shot.

For dancing around tables, its actually a law. There are two different entertainment licenses for pubs and discoteques with the latter being significantly harder and costlier to get (both in bribes and fees). There is no dance floor allowed at pubs.
There is a place called 70's bar that plays 70's and 80's music. Its on Sarasin road on the north side of Lumpini Park. Its a late 20's early 30's professional thai crowd.

Thanks all for your reply. Will definitely check out both MOS and the 70's bar.
For the 70's bar, any suggestion on what day/time to hit the place? Couldn't seem to find an FR on this bar.
Guess I'm the only one stuck in the 70's. ^-^

Just to be clear, 70's bar isn't really a place to pick up girls, its just a small two story pub that plays 70s-80s music full of hip thais. Its probably not a place to go to alone and try to meet new people, but a fun place to go with friends or dates.
It can get incredibly packed and there isn't much room to do much beyond the thai "stand by your table and boogie" style pub dancing. But the music is good. Also along Sarasin road there are several bars to check out. Some people show up around 9ish to get a table and eat dinner, but the crowd starts to really show up at 11ish and gets packed by midnight. As for days, i've only gone on fri-sat so i know those nights are packed.
