Unusual thing happened to be at orbit last night. Parked myself at the bar enjoying the as always enjoyable dancers. There was one i was particulary fascinated with and after she pried herself away from some drunkards came over and we chatted (found out that if a girl sells a 20K membership, she gets 100 baht per drink or 10K and her personal record is taking 50 shots in one night). I bought a couple rounds of shots and then it was closing time.
Since I didn't drink that much and i kept her away from the higher paying customers i decided to give a nice tip and gave her a 1K baht note. But she declined saying it was too much. I then offered 500 instead but she said i should tip the bartenders and waiters instead since they don't make much. So i gave out 100 baht notes to a couple of the bartenders and waiters and gave her 100baht for her cab fare.
I have never ran into a girl at a club or lounge who wouldn't take a tip. On my way out the bartender stopped me and said the dancer asked him to give me her phone number.
Lesson learned... always be nice to the bartenders.

That IS a good story! But be careful...next you will invite the dancer to lunch and she will bring several friends and then take you shopping. I know someone who has bought seven mobile phones in the last 5 months. He is pretty damn cynical now....

Better to meet them for dinner in a place like Hard Rock or Oishi where there isn't opportunity to go shopping. 
Actually I've not yet had a girl even hint at going shopping when I have met them outside Orbit, though that may be luck of the draw. In total I've met 6 (3 of my own initiative and 3 as a wingman for friends) and all were pretty laid back. That's not to say they never asked for anything... girls will ask for help with the rent or whatnot at times, which is par for the course.
As for the original poster, the better sales girls in Orbit can make a LOT of cash. I know one of them in particular who makes a salary that would make even most expats here blush- but she still accepts tips. Only person in Orbit that I've had not accept a tip was one particular dancer recently- which impressed me as most swarm for tips and drinks.
All in good fun, of course. =)

Well, i've taken her out several times now and she always insists on paying her half. So i haven't spent a dime on her outside of Orbit. And when i'm at orbit, she fends off the swarm of dancers. She says if i'm not careful they'll suck half my membership in under two hours. I think she's just hoarding me as her personal drink ATM but she does limit how many drinks i buy per night for some odd reason. But i do know a lot of dancers now and which ones are the naughty ones.
But this girl, she actually is not at all like i expected or like other dancer's i've met. Actually, quite intelligent and thoughtful.

i have heard a story that is totally the opposite of this one.
some old dude (Farang) gave this one dancer (god i wish i could write her name here) a 90,000-baht tip because he liked her a lot. plus, he was leaving bangkok or something. she took it.

90K baht , WOW!!!
Hell I worked in Singapore ,HK and Taiwan before ( all MANy times more expensive than BKK), and my Monthly salary isnt anywhere close to 90k Baht per month. WOW!!
i Bet she could be taking a holiday after that tip.
