Ok sooooo I know this is a well trudged topic... BUT... I am still really confused.
As I understood it....
New times 12, 1am, 2am to be applied according to designated zones. BUT these times only to be applied to 'new' licenses. Meaning that nothing has changed for existing bars clubs etc..
But since then...
Have received an email saying that a party is cancelled in April due to the 'new closing times'
Read in the Phuket Gazette that all bars must apply for a new license (with new closing times applying)
Have seen a new crackdown on farang joints - namely CM2 and Mystique
I am a reasonably experienced partyguy but I am very confused. Does anyone know what is really going on? If so can they please explain....

There was a whole thread devoted to this issue, but no updated info lately. Noone knows for sure.

I think Chicago II, the album after, still stands out for it's innovation and blend of jazz, rock and clalsical. One of the best albums ever, and never matched again by Chicago themselves.
In my view they didn't try to match as th went commercial.

Nobody knows about closing times right now...just back from bkk....i was there less than one week ago and heard so many stories about the freaky closing time...i was there even the first of march....just back from pattaya to see what was going on in the nana or cowboy but nothing happened....bars closed at 2 o'clock as usual but that night even all the old and experienced mama sans friends of mine could not tell me if the have to close at 12 or 1 o'clock. They told me that maybe police was about to come and close the place but I kept on drinking untill 2 o'clock as usual with no problems. We have to wait....only time will bring us the real answer

Wow, a one hit wonder from the Outsiders. I actually have the album, got it out of the cut-out rack 35 years ago. Ronnie, your memory is certainly improving! Keep taking that Ginko.
But I much prefer Chicago II. Closing time should be "Twenty Five or Six to Four".

They were going to change the closing times for the establishments outside the area of Ratchapisek, Sukhumvit and Patpong. They backed off from it because it included the regular night clubs and bars.
They originally wanted to hit the massage parlors, gogo bars and show bars in all areas. Bribes won't help them anymore since they are also cracking down on policemen that take bribes. Also a massage parlor tax and a tax for go-go bar establishments is in discussion. I don't see this tax probably going into effect for at least a few years.
So right now it is up for discussion in their parliment right now. The main issue is to stop foreigners from attending THERE places of recreation. Since it was the foreigners that gave this place the bad names for sex places.
I have a friend in the trade office there and the way the government wants it now and the pressure that foreign governents like the United States, Australia, Canada and United Kingdom are putting on them they see most of these massage places off limits to Farangs (non-asians) and go go bars closing at 11pm probably within 5 years.
The Thailand government is even co-operating with countries like Germany, France, Canada, United States, Australia and United Kingdom in handing over foreigners to our embassies there for prosecution. There are laws in these countries now for foreign sex tours. They will prosecute us as if we violated these laws in our own country. In Canada for instance....there is law that can send us to the slammer for up to 5 years for going on sex tours and then the other charges for solicitation for prostitution charges and attending a bawdy house. I know since I have worked in a major law firm in Canada. Things are changing not because of the Thailand government and Thaksin, it is changing because of world pressure.
One thing is for sure, if there is going to be police bust. I am heading out the first window or door.
