In less then 3 months, new year 2005 will coming. I will stay in BKK and need some advise where I can go for new year party!? (Q-Bar? Novotel?). Need to make any reservation in advance?
...or it's better to go outside of BKK (Phuket, Koh Samui)

The problem with the new year is that large numbers of gals go home to see their family and dont come back till around mid january.
plus there are too many farangs in town, so in my opinion its the time of year to avoid.
i used to go for xmas and new year but not any more.
better to wait until mid january when the bulk of the xmas punters go home.
then you have tons of gals looking for a punter /friend
plus barfines tend to rise over the holiday period and gals are in short supply.

I've been there twice over New Years and found they hardly celebrate it.
Had to bring my own champagne and celebrate with a few friends with lots of people around us doing their daily work.
There must be special parties though... but haven't been to one.

if you just want a new years eve party they are advertised in the Thai press in advance,most the major hotels throw them because they make a lot of money. they are not cheap and in my opinion are not good value for money.
so just book up in advance.
pay for the party and turn up on the night.
if you want girls on new years eve night,pattaya is diabolical, the bars will be emptied of girls on the night.
same in phuket, beer bars with no girls !
because they all went home, or are out having a party.
some rented out on long time when their guys turn up for xmas/new years.

I have to say I have had great times in Phuket (Bangela Rd in Patong beach) on past new years. Many girls in the beer bars and be prepared for fireworks a plenty! I would strongly suggest it!

I was in BKK for New Years 2002 and had a lot of fun. I had a steady so I don't know how the BG situation was. Anyhow, we went drinking in Patpong which was quite lively- a lot of firecrackers. There was a huge stage set-up with a show for the locals. We actually walked all the way back to Nana. Nana was open all night and had some live music going near the entrance. I wonder if they'll be able to do it all night this year??

There will be one in the BED Superclub for Baht 4'490.--, incl. pre-dinner, cocktails. dinner, starts at 08:30 pm. Limited seats, you have to make reservation...

Been in bkk every NY now for 21 years. They celebrate to the same extent as the rest of the world.
True that a lot of girls go home tho but tourist nujbers are noticeably down the last 3 years so it evens out.
Of course everything, especially flights, much cheaper after mid-January
