The place is generally "cool".Not many tourist,it's more expatriats spot.I didn't like the music,but I think most of brothers in forum will like it.Some "Soul","Soft Hip-Hop" and groovy house.Regarding girls is really mix:some freelancers,but from top class,many half-thai-half-falang,some falang girls,defenetely not working(forget about Russians etc.)You must try this place,but two times it was enough for me.

Q-bar...great place!
Just to get out of the 'bar' scene it is a perfect place to visit a few times per week. Early evening drink or to visit on a busy evening in the weekend. Great people watching with several beautiful girls. Had the pleasure to meet a few of my better friend (thai) there and always seem to meet interresting folks. It is a bit upscale and an evening 'boozing' can be expensive, worth the money though..

if you want to meet openminded thai people plus working farangexpats it is the place to be and socialize. certainly most upmarket place which is not a club that i know in bangkok. okay the drinks are hefty priced but that is just to keep out the bar scene of this place. okay, i hate they very snobbish attitude of some of the indian or farang guys in there who do think they are something better, but the thai poeple in there are great. buy a bottle of spirit and it will be getting cheaper, allthough they only store for six weeks plus you get charged for more mixers then 6 or 10, so if you are not really a regular there it might be better settling for buying drinks by the glass (thb 150-250, depending on the drinks!)
also a good place to impress any thai lady for the night out after having had dinner, besides the other usual suspects like narcissus etc.

Interesting spin on Q-bar. I will have to take a thai female there next time.
I have been there 5 times and each time swore I would not go back. But, each time someone said, "hey; let's go check it out, the females are hot!" I do not see that many "hot" females there. Mostly men and the music was not my taste.
But, again. Sounds like I should give it another chance! ha ha ha!!

I've been there a bunch of times, and it's a pretty "hip" place, the kind of place you'd find in New York (which is the idea). Not the classic thai pick-up kind of place, but to my surprise, there are a fair number of freelancers in there (went with my girl and she pointed them out to me). Better to go late and on a Friday it will be crowded.
Can get a bit stuffy as the earlier post mentioned. Sometimes I can deal with that and other times not. That' s why I only go there once and a while...

When I first saw your post, my first thought was that it's just your kind of place. I know you like a book!
(HUMOR ALERT:THE PRECEDING SENTENCE WAS ENITIRELY IN JEST; NO OFFENSE WAS INTENDED TO PERSONS EITHER LIVING OR DEAD).
It's a pretty cool place and it's very trendy; As with all such places there are a lot of pretentious twits there (Thai and Expat) but there's a reason why it's popular.

once again, this is not a pick up place at all. you will find some approachable girls, but very hard to score first night. get numbers and after dinners etc. may be yes. but very good place for bringing a tg to impress or just for hanging around an upmarket bar, that could be also located in hip european or american cities.
