I will be in samui May of this year and wanna stay at chaweng beach.but don't know about hotel etc.any one can tell me please any good hotel name(price within 1000 bht) in that beach.How is there local trans port service?how about TG?Can I get easily?Can tell me please about any pick up point?i'm waiting for your response.

Can't help you out with a hotel for less than 1000 baht since I spent more than that when I was there at the end of Feb 03. Other questions, though:
- Transportation service is very strong. For some reason the only place that it wasn't was at the airport. Once your in or near Chaweng beach, taxis are all over and, depending on where you stay, may not be necessary for you beach/eating/drinking/playing needs.
- If you walk down the main road in Chaweng beach you'll see plenty of nightlife opportunities. The quantity is definitely there - although the quality didn't seem to be as strong as BKK or Phuket.

Try chewang resort right next to Imperial. Good price and middle of all the action. Walk down at the end of Chewang strip and you will find a sports club (Oneil's) with about 30 to 40 tg's hanging out there..

if you don't have accomodation when you get to the airport, the tour reps will try to get you to stay either at the Beachcomber hotel (2300bht) or Chaweng Buri (3750 bht). Both a little over priced. I've been to Samui twice now, so they must have a deal with these particular places. There are other places to stay, but either way too expensive or too far away.
Be aware, i took my tgf back on the first night to the beachcomber hotel - they charged me 500 baht - even though i asked for a double room, the second night i sneaked her past without anyone seeing. You can also use the path that leads up from the beach to get them in.
Stayed one night at the Chaweng Buri - nice location\ grounds etc. but over priced for what it is - though it is girl friendly.
If you have time, get the taxi to drop you off by O'Neils sports bar & walk down (beach side) and find your own accomodation - lots of choice.
After that, i spent 8 nights at a bungalow resort called Long Beach, very nice bungalows & scenery & of course girl friendly. It's opposite McDonalds.

Hi ps02,
all these places are down Chaweng beach road. The first bar you come to is O'Neils, this will be on the left hand side as you drive from the airport. This is a good point from which you can look for accomodation. Burger King is a little way on, then further down is McDonalds.
From my point of view i would stay between O'Neils & McDonalds for the bars\clubs to be accessible. There are loads of taxi's so getting around isn't a problem. The taxi motorbike will take 2 passengers, so you & a t\g will not be a problem.

A cheaper hotel that still has some good facilities is the Beachcomber.
Although they do charge for a guest to stay, the recption closes early, hence if you are a night bird you get a free guest stay
