Been there twice in last 2 mnths incl 10 days in Feb. It's obviously not BKK or Pattaya but I still reckon there is enough bars & girls to have a good time. The usual bar fine is THB300 & I found 1000 was well appreciated for S/T. Had one L/T for THB1200 and the TG seemed very happy & cleaned-up my room which she described as "messy". I really appreciated this after-sales service which I could not imagine being provided by girls in most other countries. The Hilton disco is a good pick-up place after midnight.
Although there are a lot of Farang blokes around, the great majority are there with their families and do not frequent the bars. The mini-bus from Victory Sq @ B140 is a cheap and convenient way to get to HH.

The mini-bus (micro-bus) departs between 6:00am - 20:00 daily (as soon as full). I found this OK as the passengers are mostly Thais (thus smaller) and they usually don't have much (if any) luggage. The departure point is opp the main gate of the Rajavithi Hospital (marked on tourist maps). Easy to find, it's only a few minutes walk from Sky Train station. Tel 09-9827710

Was in Hua Hin in mid March for a few days. Nice beach, did not see any horse sh_t although the police do patrol the beach on horses. Bar beer scene in its infancy but appears ready to take off. Some traffic problems (so what's new?). No Go-Gos, apparently prohibited because of the royal presence - typical Thai logic as they co-exist in Bangkok. You can visit the old summer palace a few km to the north of town, used in the early 1900s by the royals. At the time of my visit you could not visit the current royal summer palace, located close to the airport. Airport currently closed. Good motorway to and from Bangkok. About 4 hours by train from Bangkok. Property prices lower than Pattaya and some house building going on in outskirts.

I know Tyler Durdin just got back from 2 days there, maybe he can add something. I was only there for dinner and "I want to boxing that lady!" with Nam last September, at the Hua Hin Brewing Company. Good food and a fun place.

never got as far as hue hin this trip did go to chaam very close by couple of weeks ago, for those who like it quiet u get transparent blue water and sandy beach. There was one soi of bars about 12 or so with one gogo the chicken coop meaning whores in thai as we all know.
for those penny pinchers among us beer was 50 bt all night. As I was with the family I cannot give any details of barfine etc

You are not currently allowed to visit the Royal palace in Hua Hin as mentioned above. His Majesty spends most of his time there these days and they decided it was not a good idea to have people in between his visits as they are just too frequent.
You can tell when he is there by the Royal Thai Navy frigates sitting in the bay in front of the Palace.
The old Palace up towards Cha Am is always open, again as stated above.
