You can always stay at the Holiday Inn on Phi Phi. Expensive, but nice. It never closed after the tsunami hit. In fact, I ate lunch there several times while shuttling back and forth between Phi Phi and Krabi in the days after the wave. It was strange....walking the devastation of Phi Phi....and then taking a short boatride over to the Holiday Inn for a nice lunch, a shower, and a dip in the pool. Such is life.

If you going on a budget, Krabi is probably not the place for you. It is generally very middle class, middle age (like myself). The Green Villa is going out on the 4201 on the map on that site you flagged up. That is you go up the main road at the southern end of Ao Nang. Krabi itself is not a bad little town in my opinion, though I have heard many other people say they don't care for it. Accomodation in town is much cheaper than at the beaches & I reckon the food is better. It's very easy getting in & out to the beaches from town, though comparitively the boats are overpriced. Don't know anything about the Dream Garden I'm afraid. Have fun.

There is a place on Ao Nang that rents nice rooms for 800-1200 baht a night. I cannot remember the name....they also rent boats there. It is across the street from an internet cafe....up a small soi, up a hill, near the corner where you turn to head down the beach front road. If you drive to Ao Nang, and take the last right before you have to turn right onto the beach front road there....you will go up the hill, and this place....J Mansion. That is it. They are on the right. I cannot remember the owner's name...really a nice guy. Rooms were clean, large, and very functional. Good air con, no bugs, nice bed, clean sheets. Good location, too.

Thank for the tips - we have a small budget (me and GF) and have to manage 5 weeks together on 5000tbh a day including hotel. So if the hotel goes for 1000-1500 would be nice. J mansion you say, this one? http://www.yourkrabi.com/j_mansion.shtml Great tips but no pool (:- ( Asking for to much? Krabi sounds nice for a couple of weeks with a few nights on Phi phi and maybe maybe Koh Lanta. Phuket/patong is a no no - to many formerly TGF there...

Yes, Krabi and Ao Nang are more for relaxing and hanging out in restaurants than for mongering. There is a couple of bars in Ao Nang, but the beauty of the girls is not really reassuring. Better go to Phuket. Rgds, Mike

Right, that is it. J-Mansion. I remember the owner's name: Mr. Big. Very nice guy. But no pool there. You could just walk around the corner and go to the beach. If a pool matters to you, for whatever reason....there is another joint right at the corner there, where you turn the right to go down the beach front road. In other words, instead of hanging the right up the hill to go to J-Mansion, you keep going straight, and stop right before you turn right onto the beach road. On the graphic that you posted....it looks like it is called Phra Nang Inn. I do not remember, but it sounds likely. This place...has a lush overgrown garden area...with rooms clustered around it.....several floors high.....and a small pool. You can actually walk into it from the road, and check it out. Conversely, you can leave the pool area, and walk across the street to the beach. That whole beach front road has a couple of really good restaurants. The Italian restaurant, in particular, is a nice spot. You can sit in the front, on the sidewalk, and watch the sun set. It is glorious. And the food...is very well done, there. There is another place....I want to say that it is across the street from the Best Western Ao Nang....called The Carnivore Grill. The owner, Giedi, really makes some great chow. It is all meat. Steaks, etc. There is a very small bar area, sort of tucked away off the beach road....and yes, there are ladies in there. But as others have posted, the selection is not spectacular. There are other mongering options in Krabi Town, itself, and I found it a better hunting area. But I liked hanging out in Ao Nang.

Hi all, Does it makes sense to carry yr girlfrom Bkk to Krabi? If any of the bros have bar fined in Krabi would be grateful if they could give me the names of the bars and what the bar fines are like and what could be the LT rates. Any specific hotels which are girl friendly on Ao Nang beach? Although I will book double but still they charge joiner fees at times. Looking forward to your recommendations Cheers

If you can, Rayavadee is the perfect choice.....second is TubKak Resort......but my vote goes to the Railay Beach Resort, next to the Rayavadee but selling from 30USD per night! http://www.krabi-railaybay.com/index.asp And yes, when going to Krabi, the idea of bringing your own girl from Bangkok is something to be considered for the local talent is missing...
