Geography isn't my best topic. Where is Khon Kaen in reference to Udon Thani???
Been to Udon Thani (once), and have seen traffic signs for Khon Kaen but no mileage info.
Visiting Udon Thani on my next visit (4 days to take off). Going thru a trave agent, 12,400 baht for 2 RT tickets to Udon Thani (business class) with 3 nights at a 4-star hotel. Will be back in Pattaya for Loy Kathroy, 8 Nov.
I did check-out on MP while there (Udon) the last time, wasn't impressed. Model girls werent' up to par with Bangkok, not even close (girlfriend went out with her girlfriend, shopping of course and on my dime).

Due south of Udon Thani, about 109 klicks or so, on Highway 2 that leads to BKK. You typically drive/train through there on your way. It's also an intersection for points east and west. BTW, the drive west out of Khon Kaen to Phitsanulok is really pretty, IMHO.

The story confirms my experience that Karaoke Bars is a great place to pick up a girl, you can check her attitudes abd stats before takingher allong. I always try to stay in a hotel with Karaoke bar for in-house supply.

I am only new to this forum but picked up on this thread because I spend a fair amount of my "Thailand" time in KK so know the town reasonably well.
Khon Kaen is 450 kms rom Bangkok and around 200 north of Khorat, 120 kms South of Udon Thani on Highway 2. It takes 5 1/2 hrs to drive from Bangkok on a divided road all the way. There are 4 flights per day and the airfare is 1605 baht. There are numerous trains, the best one is the DRC express thats leaves Bangkok around 8.30am and gets in around 4pm. This train does not go through Khorat but a more northerly route that is beautiful in some parts. There are numerous buses leaving from Morchit and the trip is around 6 1/2hrs. Train costs around 400 baht and the bus mid 300's from memory.
It is Thailands 4th largest city and has a very large university, around 40000 students, which means around 20000 girl students. These students mainly come from other NorthEast towns and are generally fairly shy but love to practice their english............
The choice of accommodation is outstanding, the Sofitel is a genuine 5 star hotel and can be got for around 1500 a night. There are numerous good hotels in town for around the 4 - 500 baht a night mark.
A suggestion was made in a previous post to have a look at khonkaen.com This is a forum specifically for KK and surrounding towns and has a wealth of info on a range of subjects. Suggest you have a look there and any specific questions will be answered.
I haven't been to Cleo's at the Sofitel but after reading the post here will definitely investigate.

hello guys,
does anybody know about a massage service of the hotel?
Do they have one, its not very clear in the Hotel's web. page (at least to me).
And are extras available. Something like a hj or bj after a good massage.
Maybe someone knows about that.

They have oil massage in the sports club and thai traditional massage in one of the hotel rooms upstairs.
the girls only very, very average.
I've been here more than a few times and never had any offers of extras, mind you, those who don't ask don't receive.
you're best bet for hotel massage with extras is at the kosa hotel.

i agree..KOSA Hotel best for all the extras...get there around 6pm as before then there are a bunch of dogs and the better looking ones get there around 6pm....
